I’m a proud mother of four, wife of one and a severe addict of coffee (unfortunately).
What inspires you to write romance books?
Most of my ideas come when listening to music. Lyrics always make my head full of ideas.
Tell us about how you write:
I always start with the character and their families. Who are they? What are they? Where do they live? What do they look like? What are their dreams, their goals and their fears?
When I have the characters in the back of my head I start with writing a synopsis which includes how they meet, the biggest happenings throughout their story and the grand finale. I then use the synopsis as the skeleton of my story and fatten it up until it’s a finished novel.
Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
When it comes to my characters I just go with the flow. I don’t listen so much to what they say as I’m already a couple of lines ahead of them in my head when I write.
What advice would you give other writers?
Write. Write, write and then write some more.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
As English is my second language I felt that I needed the security of an editor who would help me polish the manuscript. The editor who picked me up is the greatest and I have learnt so much from her during the editing process. The lessons learnt from working with her are invaluable and I can never thank her enough for her patience with me.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
It’s hard to predict. My wish is that it kind of remains the same as it is today. I love the feeling of a book in my hands. To feel the smooth surface of it. But in the same time it is so wonderful to be able to read on your smartphone, to have an endless library with you wherever you go.
