What inspires you to write romance books?
From the time I was twelve years old, I knew I wanted to be a writer. That year I wrote a short story called Count Daffodil after spending countless hours in a desperate search for ideas. The story garnered me an A and was read aloud through the school’s loudspeaker system. Needless to say, after that I was hooked.
I grew up, got married, raised a family and left my writing urges to simmer in the background unattended.
I owned and operated a successful diner in my hometown for a number of wonderful years before deciding to live my dream of becoming an author.
My first book, Tidal Falls, a romantic suspense novel about second chances, released September of 2014.

Tell us about how you write:
First things, first; Coffee ļŠ
Then I usually open my blog, check for comments that need answering, do the SM trail, and end with my emails. That takes up most of my day, then itā€™s family time. Around nine or ten at night the house gets quiet and I can work on my newest project, a paranormal romance. I do that until midnight or so, go to bed, read a couple of chapters, and start the whole process over the next day. I know, exciting hey?

Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
They talk, I listen šŸ™‚

What advice would you give other writers?
The best advice Iā€™ve received is to join critique groups, get as many eyes on your work as possible before publishing. This is key in the editing process, I love my critique partners. Worst advice, funnily enough, came from some of these aforementioned groups. One would say change this, so I would. Another would say change that, so I did. Then came the second best advice, from my DH. He saw my frustrations, listened to my whining, then looked me in the eye and asked, ā€œWhose book is this?ā€ Trust yourself, no one knows your story better than you.

How did you decide how to publish your books?
Iā€™m happy I decided to go the self-publishing route. Itā€™s enabled me to be my own boss. That being said, thereā€™s no one else to blame if I donā€™t succeed. Thereā€™s a lot of work involved in becoming an indie author. And thatā€™s after writing the best novel the worldā€™s ever seen. You need to be willing to take on all aspects of the business, because that is what being self-pubbed is; a business. From cover design, to formatting and uploading, to book-keeping and promoting. Writing is a full-time job.

What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think we’re lucky to be writing now. There are opportunities we would never have had before!

What genres do you write:: contemporary, suspense, paranormal

What formats are your books in: Both eBook and Print
