Elena Nix is an author of erotic fiction. A lifetime love of literature and a very naughty mind proved to be the perfect combination for elevated erotica. Her imagination has some dark twists and frequently, her books do, too. When she's not wrangling wayward characters or taming twisted plots, her favorite place to be is curled up on the couch with her assortment of dogs, cats, and one husband, writing stories on her laptop that would make a succubus blush.

The most interesting stories involve conflict and speak directly to our emotions. Romantic fiction is an excellent medium for exploring both inner conflict and the clashes between two people as they find their path together. Thinking about the balance between wild emotion and stabilizing influences inspires me.

I usually start with a very general idea for the plot and then imagine the main characters in a great deal of detail. Once I know the characters inside and out, the details of the plot emerge naturally when I place the characters in various situations.

I swear at them a lot when they aren't cooperating with being written. 😉 In the course of my daily life, I often think of what my characters would say or do in response to something I encounter.

Focus on the characters. If the characters aren't good, the plot won't save it.

Sometimes, it's hard for me to find something that I want to read., so I decided that I would write the kind of books I wished I could find.

I think a hybrid marketplace is going to develop that offers some curation without being as restrictive and exclusionary as traditional publishing houses.

Erotic Fiction, Romantic Thriller, Romantic Suspense
