About the Author

I have currently published my first erotic short story “Gulbrandr” as a start to a new series “Forever Broken”, which is an erotic futuristic anti-romance, with a sci-fi and slightly steam punk feel.

What inspires you to write romance books?

My own experiences inspired me to write this erotic anti-romance.

Tell us about how you write:

I write in a slightly old-fashioned sort of style. The story of “Gulbrandr” was in my head long before I wrote it. I would recite it to myself before I ever wrote anything down. Then one late night, after midnight I started to type it on the computer and it all came out. I continued working on it, re-reading & re-writing it again and again from there. It took me about 6 months to complete.

Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?

In “Gulbrandr” I don’t listen or talk to the characters because in my head I am them/or they are parts of me while I am writing what they think or say.

What advice would you give other writers?

I would say that if you have experienced something, feelings and emotions and perhaps it is in unusual circumstances or even if you just have a way of expressing what we all go through, maybe start with that.

How did you decide how to publish your books?

I really wanted to get the story of “Gulbrandr” out of my head, into text and send it off into the world. I looked up many ways of publishing and the quickest option if you are unpublished seemed to be self publishing so I have only published it as an ebook through Kindle. I was so excited to get it out there, but knew nothing about marketing. I read up a lot on it, but it seems to take up more time than actually writing your book. And there are so many free books out there it is hard to compete. I would advise if you can get a publisher or literary agent to take on your book then do because they can really push it forward through their already-established marketing mediums.

What do you think about the future of book publishing?

I think the future of book publishing is quite exciting, but I often wonder if one day it will all be free to the consumer and if this will be a good thing or not. A double-edged sword perhaps for those of us who would love to make a living out of writing, but then again, if it were all free then anything out there would truly be a labour of love so perhaps that would reflect in the work?
