Here is a short sample from the book:

Sunset Point
From corners green,
desert dunes,
mountain castle caves,
the deepest of the eastern slums
and of the arctic waves.
Of histories unravelled
and memories forgot,
we of every race and creed,
prosperity or not.
On sunset point of paradise
with sand between our toes;
the magic of this sun-downed day
only these few will ever know.
It’s the deepest, boldest orange-red
that sinks into the blue
for the final, epic sunlight blink
before the purple evening hue.

Perfect Need – Seven Tales of Love and Passion by Barbara L.B. Storey

    0 out of 5

    Close your eyes.

    Fall in love.

    Stay there.

    ~ Rumi

You never know who you’ll fall in love with, or why, or whether it’s a good idea – ask Rowan in A Star, A Stone. A sudden rainstorm – Stormy Weather – or even an exercise class – The Queen of Heaven – can be the spark that creates abandon and exhilarating passion between two lovers. In Dolce, a full-course Italian meal prepared with love whets . . . other appetites.

The stories in Perfect Need explore what love and passion can become, how they can affect two people for a moment, or for a lifetime; when they tumble into a love they never expected; when they decide it’s worth the risk to stay . . . or not.

The Portable Laura Roberts by Laura Roberts

    0 out of 5

Laura Roberts was born in 1978 and immediately began writing the story of her life, after staring up at a spinning mobile above her crib for a sufficient period of time and thinking, “I could do better than that.” Though the intervening years have seen her scribbling in notebooks, Harriet the Spy-style, as well as concocting rude gossip rags about her friends and family (hello, “Gossip World!”), she first debuted her special brand of insanity in a university-level screenwriting class, where her final project was a Hal Hartley-inspired fanfic tribute to David Duchovny whose climax saw the protagonist wielding two menacing halves of Immanuel Kant’s Critique of Pure Reason in a boxing match against Duchovny’s real-life wife, Téa Leoni. She received an A from her professor, as well as the astute comment, “You got away with a lot.”

She has been getting away with a lot more ever since, including crime fiction, erotica, sex columns, an honors degree in Creative Writing and English Literature, thinly veiled tracts against her former home base in Austin, Texas, and a ninja versus pirates cavalcade.

Laura is the author of NINJAS OF THE 512, aka the best novel you’ll ever read about pirates, ninjas and evil politicians in Austin, Texas. Her second novel, NAKED MONTREAL, about her time as a sex columnist in the Sin City of the North, is available in serial format. She is also pondering a ninja follow-up that features ninjas versus robots. In her copious spare time, Laura curates the cheeky literary magazine Black Heart, which features indie authors’ poetry and prose on a daily basis, and lives in an Apocalypse-proof bunker in SoCal with her artist husband and their literary kitty, Nedward Carlos Nedwards.

THE PORTABLE LAURA ROBERTS is Laura’s most egotistical anthology to date, but she hopes her friends and fans will be amused by this diversion while they await the completion of her next novel.

This sampler contains many of Laura’s previously published short fiction including:

    -CRIME FICTION-

17 Things You Never Knew About Val Capone

Murder in the Key of E

    Snow Patrol

    Wakizashi

    Of Cocks and Existentialism

    -EROTICA-

    Aries

    Libra

    Taurus

    Virgo

    Sleeping Together

    -LITERARY FICTION-

    Metro Area Weather

    Montreal in 7 Pieces

    -POETRY-

    Obituary

    Montreal Winter

    Halifax in a Sentence

    Cheeky Haiku

PLUS an excerpt from her serial novel, Naked Montreal!

Clarise Carson was desperate to keep her newly-engaged sister from playing matchmaker at her very own engagement party. So she dragged a handsome friend to be her “pretend” boyfriend for the night.

Will Matthews went to his friend Rick’s engagement party for one reason – to meet Rick’s future sister-in-law, the writer for Lifestyle by Design magazine, in the hope that he could have an article published for his boutique travel agency service. He knew Rick had plans to introduce him to some single girl at the party but he laughed it off. He had no desire whatsoever to be in a relationship with any woman who would want commitment. Heart Robber (Lifestyle by Design Book 2) by Miranda P. Charles @MirandaPCharles

    0 out of 5

Jessa Allen knew she was plain and average. Yes, she was brainy and successful in her career as a senior writer for the popular Lifestyle by Design magazine, but she wasn’t a raving beauty who easily attracted hunky, gorgeous men like Rob Granger even if her well-meaning friends wanted her to believe she was. So when Rob asked her out, she was shocked. A seriously handsome man who had magnetism she couldn’t seem to escape wanted her. That wasn’t something that happened everyday.

Rob Granger was instantly attracted to Jessa Allen. She wasn’t the usual type he went for but there was something alluring about her that drew him like a moth to a flame. But he was a self-confessed playboy who had absolutely no plans to be tied down by any woman. He valued his freedom, first and foremost and his expanding business was the only thing he was committed to. But he was intent on satisfying his intense desire for Jessa.

They both didn’t want to fight their physical attraction for each other. But Jessa found herself falling for the man who could not promise her tomorrow. And Rob was set on only having a short fling with Jessa especially when they lived in different states – he in Melbourne and she in Sydney.

Could Jessa trust herself not to fall apart when the time came to let Rob go? And could Rob ever find freedom in what he considered as a prison to be avoided at all cost?
