About the author:
Alix West lives with her family in the Wilds of Texas. She writes stories that feature innocent heroines who sass their men at every turn. The heroes are often older, always domineering and above all, protective of their women. The story lines are romantic, fun, sweet, and spicy.
What inspired you to write your book?
It’s so enticing, when the stories play in my mind, my muse directing the action, and me, imperfectly, putting the words on paper. There’s nothing I’d rather do than write, and for some reason the muscular, dominant, sweet but protective cowboy keeps beckoning me, inviting me closer with his wicked smile and dark promises.
Here is a short sample from the book:
Emmaline Fitzhugh lit a candle and prepared for her secret bath. She liked to slip into Mr. Carson’s private quarters and soak in her employer’s brand new, copper tub. Her little indulgence.
Bad idea? Certainly. But, one she couldn’t resist.
Piling her hair on top of her head, she hummed as she imagined the long bath she’d enjoy while he was gone for the evening. Every Saturday, he rode to town to attend the livestock auction. He always spent the night. She took advantage of the empty house, stealing into his bathroom and luxuriating in a forbidden bubble bath.
As his personal secretary, she knew a great deal about Jake Carson. He hired her three and a half months ago, and invited her to work by his side at the Carson Ranch. For the sake of propriety, he insisted she stay in the guest quarters.
Every morning between breakfast and lunch, she worked with him, writing letters he dictated, ordering feed for his cattle and horses, and overseeing the household. She did her best to do things to his liking, to please him. She made it her business to ensure his coffee was piping hot and his accounts balanced to the penny.
She pulled on a silk wrapper. By the light of a single candle, she walked down the hallway to his bedroom.
