Here is a short sample from the book:
I was finally ready. Leaning seductively against the nearest stall, I focused on the door and waited for my handsome husband to come walking through. A few seconds later, the door swung open and a man walked in.
It wasn’t my husband. The man that now stood before me was massive and gruff-looking. He would probably have been handsome had it not been for his shabby appearance. His hair had clearly not been cut in over a month and his beard stubble was at least a few days old. His clothes were tattered and riddled with holes. But even with all this, he had a certain handsomeness to him. His jaw was square, his stomach flat and large muscles bulged beneath his over-worn clothing. If I had to guess, I would say he was in his early thirties.
I stared at him for a few seconds before realizing I was alone in a truck stop’s filthy restroom with a complete stranger. I considered waiting for my husband to arrive and fight my battle for me, but the creepy vibe I got from this ruggedly handsome stranger terrified me.
“I—I was just leaving,” I stuttered as I hurried toward the door. I tried to slip past him, but he used his massive body to block the exit. He was so big that he almost completely filled up the door frame.
Fear shot through me as I realized I was completely defenseless. My pepper spray was in my purse, which stood in the far corner of the room. My feet were bare, which took kicking out of the equation. And the size of the man’s frame told me my fists would be ineffective. All I could do was try and be polite and hope for the best. If that failed, my only option would be to pray that my husband did not to dilly dally.
“Would you m—mind stepping aside?” I asked in the most polite voice I could muster. My hands were shaking, but I kept them hidden behind my back. The worst thing I could do was let him see how terrified I was.
The man smiled.
“You’re not going anywhere,” he said in a deep, rumbling voice.
I felt my heart sink. I was officially in trouble. Whatever this man had in mind, it was definitely not innocent. I was unfortunately proven correct when he reached down and started unbuckling his belt.
My heart almost stopped as I realized what was about to happen. I was about to get raped and there was nothing I could do about it. My only hope was to try and distract him long enough for my husband to arrive.
I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out. I tried again, but my vocal cords remained frozen. It was not until the third try that I finally managed to speak.
“I—I don’t know what you’ve heard, but I’m not that kind of girl,” I said. I was slightly surprised by the forcefulness of my voice. Perhaps I was not at terrified as I initially thought.
The man laughed as he unbuttoned his pants.
“Is that so?” he asked in a doubtful voice. I did not understand what that meant until he unzipped his pants and let them fall to the ground…
