About the author:
Although Bindu currently lives in sunny South Florida, she is still known to say “y’all” with a strong southern drawl, a dead-giveaway of her early Texas roots. An avid chai and coffee connoisseur, she loves discovering new coffee houses and browsing in bookstores. She is currently working on her next novel, Almost Paradise: Book 1 of The Garden of Eden, a serialized Young Adult (YA) novel.
What inspired you to write your book?
The Chrysalis was inspired by my experiences with 20s and the pressure of marriage. Even though it was at times stressful and at times comical how obsessed Indian parents could be with getting their children married, I always felt like there was so much rich material to write a book.
Here is a short sample from the book:
“All my life I’d been searching… I could never explain what for… but searching for that sense of completeness, that sense of purpose, that sense of fulfillment. I didn’t get it from school, from work, my personal achievements, and as ashamed as I am to admit it, not even from God. And it was at that moment, I suddenly knew the answers to questions that I didn’t even know I had. In those few seconds of first seeing him, I knew what every person knows when they helplessly, mindlessly fall in love – that despite the fact that not one word had been uttered and that they didn’t even know who the other person was… yet they felt a stirring within, almost a knowing, that somehow they found the one.”
