About the author:
I live on a boat in a marina with my wife. We enjoy the ambience, friendliness, and leisurely lifestyle living afloat. It gives me time to thoroughly contemplate my stories and work out the plot details and emotions of my characters.
I write with the intention of always having my characters react to situations in a realistic manner. Many of my stories have a basis in a real-life event, even if they are fictionalized. I want my readers to identify with my characters motivations even if they would never find themselves in a similar situation.
My characters almost always find themselves in a strange situation not of their making. They usually have to work through a new experience or dilemma they had never faced previously. I like to show that they learn and grow from the experience and that they become better from having gone through it.
Here is a short sample from the book:
“Let's go to the bar. I need a drink after that long ride,” Shelly proposed. They finished putting their belongings away and left for the bar.
They walked across the lawn to the outdoor patio bar, a large tiki hut structure with a long, more than twenty seat bar, several high-top tables and chairs, patio tables with umbrellas, and lounge chairs around to the pool. It was late evening, but it was still happy hour so the bar area was quite crowded. They found two seats at the bar and ordered drinks.
Kate surveyed the area. The tables were filled with groups composed of various mixes of men and women. There were people standing at the bar and the high-top tables, and some groups mingling in random areas near the patio. Some people were already in costumes. Two women lounged in the hot tub and a couple swam naked in the pool.
“That couple is skinny dipping in the pool,” Kate whispered to Shelly.
“Yes, they are,” Shelly answered.
“Oh, so that's allowed,” Kate surmised.
“It is a clothing optional resort after all,” Shelly informed.
“So what isn't allowed?” Kate asked sarcastically.
Shelly pointed to a sign behind the bar. It read: No Sex In The Hot Tub.
Kate's eyes widened as she read the sign. “Oh,” she murmured as the words sunk in.
“That and no glass allowed in the pool area. Other than that, there aren't any rules. Now relax and enjoy yourself.” Shelly said sternly before smiling widely.
