About the author:
Author of romances that leave you with ALL the feels.
She likes her coffee big and strong and her chocolate sinfully dark.
Living in a small town in South Africa, she's afforded the luxury of being surrounded by mountains and waking up to birds singing their morning songs.
In addition to her coffee and chocolate obsession, she can't say no to cheesecake or pastry.
When she is not creating emotional reads that tug on heartstrings, she's busy being a wife to her best friend and a mom to a sassy little girl (whom she wouldn't want any other way).
She just so happens to love stalkers, so visit her website www.akmacbride.com to see all the different ways you can get your stalk on.
What inspired you to write your book?
Since I started the series, I couldn't wait to write the brooding sheriff's book!
Here is a short sample from the book:
And, damn…
Holding a woman had never felt so amazing. She was soft, so incredibly soft. The subtle smell of apples teased my senses again, only this time I did shut my eyes and inhale deeply. We swayed together while the band sang of seeing someone’s true colors and still loving them regardless.
I wanted to see all her colors laid bare almost as much as I needed to show her mine. She’d crawled so deep under my skin there was no way to get her out. Not that I wanted to. It was sudden and unexpected, but Zoe Carlisle was everything I never knew I needed. I didn’t care how hard I had to fight to make her see it and feel it.
A groan blew over my lips as the ending of the song led into something more upbeat. Reluctantly, I released Zoe from my arms only to find her staring up at me. Man, she was absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous. That look in her hazel depths was enough to make any man weak at the knees.
“I love how full of expression your eyes are.” I swallowed hard. “They reflect everything you’re feeling. Like now, you really want me to kiss you but at the same time you’re terrified I’ll actually do it.” Bringing my hand up to cradle her face, I ran a thumb over her cheek. “This is on you, sunshine. You decide.” As much as I wanted to taste her sweet lips, it was more important that she knew she was in control.
Her gaze flitted between my eyes and my mouth before locking onto mine again. I spotted a hint of pink as her tongue glided along her bottom lip. Ever so slowly, she ran her other palm up my chest then curled her fingers over my shoulders. Her intention was perfectly clear when she pushed onto her toes, her face inching closer to mine.
I’d love to say that when I stooped to meet her halfway, it was because she was so short. The truth of it was that I was impatient and the need to taste her was overwhelming. The moment our mouths fused together, everything and everyone else melted away.
My fingers slid around her neck, my thumbs pressed beneath her chin keeping her at that perfect angle for my onslaught. A small moan escaped the instant I pushed my tongue into her mouth and hers immediately coiled around mine.
Damn, this woman knew how to kiss.
Our tongues kept dueling while my hands slid to her waist and her fingers pushed into my hair. A small erotic moan sounded from her throat and registered somewhere between my legs. My palms slid farther down until I was able to hold on to her perfect ass. The need to feel her smooth legs wrapped around me was strong. I was about to hoist her onto the bench when a few catcalls stopped me cold.
We broke apart so fast, Zoe looked as bewildered as I felt. Her cheeks were bright red, her glistening lips the perfect shade of just-kissed-stupid. One look into her eyes and I knew that she too had been so lost in the kiss that we completely forgot where we were.
More catcalls sounded.
“Shit,” I looked over my shoulder to where a few teenagers were gawking at us before turning my focus to the woman in front of me again. She was laughing softly now, looking even more beautiful than moments ago.
“Guess seeing older people make-out is a phenomenon to kids these days.” She snickered.
Her reaction relieved me, the last thing I wanted to do was embarrass her. I couldn’t even imagine what we looked like devouring each other so completely. Swiping my thumb over her lip, I winked and said, “I bet they were on the verge of coming over to get some pointers.”
More laughter spilled from her lips; it was seriously becoming one of my favorite sounds. I trailed my fingers down her arm before taking her hand in mine. “Let’s get out of here.”
