What inspired you to write your book?
my surroundings and upbringing.
Here is a short sample from the book:
Rose asked Brown’s younger sister of her whereabouts. The young girl said
nothing, but nodded when she asked if her ex’s friend was at home. Brown
heard footsteps in the yard, turned her head wondering who could it be,
since she did never anticipated having any visitors that day.
‘Yho!’ Rose quipped as she came in and saw Brown doing the laundry. ‘I’m
glad to find you at home. I acted stupidly. I should’ve called you first
and asked if you were home. I don’t know what I would’ve done had I not
found you here.’
Brown walked back into the house and asked Rose; ‘What brought you here?’
‘I’m in trouble,’ Rose replied. ‘I would like you to help me put Fence in
his place.’
‘You’re asking me? Hell, Rose, Fence is a mature man. He decides for
himself when and how to be a good or a bad boy.’
‘All men appear to be mature, but fail dismally when they’re put to the
test. Fence came to me the other night as sober as a judge and bragged. He
told me how he had found a very good and beautiful future-wife in Chikita.
He ended his arrogance by telling me how my oily skin deterred him, and
other potential suitors.
‘Ouch!’ Brown exclaimed disbelievingly. That hurts. He had a nerve. I never
thought he was that cold.’
‘He’s much colder than you thought, Brown. I would like you to warm him up
a little bit for me.’
‘Not that way, Rose. He is older than me, you see.’
‘I didn’t mean that you should get in his bed,’ said Rose. I only want you
to report on his nocturnal activities.’
‘Should I pour milk in your cup?’, Brown asked a clearly-confused Rose.
‘Yes,’ replied Rose. ‘
