What inspired you to write your book?
My island. I live on the South Pacific Isle of Pitcairn, home of the Bounty Mutineers.
Here is a short sample from the book:
Jack arrived right on time at ten o’clock as promised. He rumbled up the driveway riding a well used ATV four wheeled quad, the bike farting and popping as it idled grumpily to a stop. With a bashful grin pasted over his face he met Holly at the door. “It sounds like a lemon, but gets me around.”
Jack indicated for Holly to sit behind him on the bike. Bungee corded to the front carrier of the bike was a basket, cooler, and blanket promising the prospect of a picnic meal.
“I hope you haven’t had a big breakfast.”
“Just toast, why?”
“I’ve been cooking up a storm, some good old Pitcairn cooking to fatten you up.”
Holly laughed. “Oi, you saying I’m too skinny?”
Blushing, Jack smiled. “Definitely not.” He helped her onto the bike and leered, twisting an imaginary villain’s mustache. “You’re delightful madam.”
He slid onto the bike in front of her and keyed it into life, throwing a last comment over his shoulder, voice louder to fight the roar of the bike.
“Masie told me you need some meat on your bones—blame her.”
He laughed and Holly wound her arms around his waist to hang on, the vibrations of his chuckle felt through his back to her chest.
