Here is a short sample from the book:
She jerked and stood up. I closed my eyes again, listening to the floor creak beneath her feet as she crossed the room and slipped out the door. I opened my eyes as the bathroom door opened and the bath water started. A bath at midnight on a Wednesday?
I waited a few minutes until the water stopped. Candlelight from the bathroom flickered through the open door, landing on my useless legs. Did she leave the door open?
Using my upper body strength, I pulled myself to a sitting position and forced my legs over the side of the bed, then lowered my body into my wheelchair. Slowly, I moved toward the hallway, careful not to be heard. I stopped just outside our bedroom and heard only the sound of water lapping against the tub. What was I thinking? I felt ridiculous sneaking up on her, but we hadn’t even kissed since the night before our wedding, the night I lost my will for much of anything, including her.
Soft moans crept out of the crack between the bathroom door and the wall and I fought myself inside until curiosity won, sending my arms into action as I wheeled closer to the door and peered through the crack.
