What inspired you to write your book?
After research pertaining to the requirements for writing a feature-length script for a movie, I decided to adapt a novel to a movie.
Here is a short sample from the book:
EXT. COUNTRYSIDE, ROAD–(CGI/AERIAL/DAY).
Clouds of dust bellow behind a yellow school bus as it races along on a dirt road. Trash flies from windows. Road is lined with telephone poles. Bus weaves into and out of oncoming truck traffic. Train tracks run parallel to the road. Painted on top and sides of bus are the words: “MELODY MEN JAZZ BAND.”
INT. BUS, ROAD–(CONTINUOUS/DAY).
GUS FRANKLIN (age, mid ‘30’s) is leader of a garage band on the road earning money to keep from starving. JANE FRANKLIN (age, mid 30’s) is wearing stylish 1930’s clothing, hair in Marcel wave.
RC FRANKLIN (age, 20’s) sits behind JANE. RC sits next to an open window. RC’s clothes are filthy. JANE’S clothes are neat, clean, fresh-looking; she wears excessive application of cosmetics. JANE dabs perfume behind her ears while reading movie magazines, one after another. BILLY JEROME (age, mid ‘30’s) sits next to drum set on rear bench seat of bus. HARRY LONGLEAF (age, mid 30’s) sits behind GUS. HARRY drums fingers running a piano scale on his knees.
