What inspired you to write your book?
‘Pigeon in a Snare’ is the first in a series collectively titled ‘Birds in Peril’, involving primary characters who live in the rural Midwestern U.S.A. All characters are friends, family or employees of Hunt Real Estate and Construction, Cromwell Inc. or Harvester Law. While each story has a different central character, all connect in some way to the same antagonist, Sheldon Humsler
Here is a short sample from the book:
Abruptly, barking dogs on the north side of the house drew her attention. She stumbled across the room to peer out the window wedged inside a narrow dormer just in time to see them race up the hill after some unseen object. Her vision was so blurred it was difficult to see exactly what perched on the low stone wall at the top of the hill. Ahh…it didn’t matter. She was only seeing shadows. The dogs were probably just chasing a deer.
She dropped the curtain and stumbled back to her bed huddling beneath the covers without bothering to remove her robe or slippers. Those dogs were another reason why she rarely considered escaping on foot, either by day or night. After the day she watched them attack some poor helpless stranger she decided they were the most vicious creatures on earth. Fortunately, at the time of that attack she was so doped she couldn’t remember details and did not know if they had really hurt that man or if she imagined it all.
Sheldon wasn’t so brilliant. She knew a way to escape.
