About the author:

International bestselling author Vanessa Brooks lives in Sussex England. She has a lifelong love of history, most especially English and American. She has written a couple of western tales, one notably for the Red Petticoat series which was such a huge success in America. Her Georgian series, Masterful Husbands, set in the 1700's has also proved highly successful both sides of the Atlantic.
My novels are generally historically based; I am told that I have a knack of bringing an authenticity to the era in which my novels are set. I carefully research each time period and strive to ensure that any historical facts I use are correct.
More importantly, I like to write an entertaining book for my readers to enjoy. I include passion, adventure, romance and domestic discipline, de rigueur within the eras of my popular racy, historical romance novels.

What inspired you to write your book?

I have always been fascinated by English and American history. The 1700's was a time of exploration and war. It was also an exciting and colourful period. The clothing for both men and women was flamboyant and sexy. What fascinates me is the relationship between men and women of that era. Men actually owned their wives! Women could not own property. There was no rape within marriage by law and domestic discipline was normal for most married couples. I wanted to write a series of books set in this interesting Georgian era, using a cast of female characters from the aristocracy. Each woman has a very different personality and each find a unique experience with their marriages, except for their one shared experience, spanking! The plots are all different but all contain strong elements of humour and romance. The first of these five tales was written along with author Beth Bennett the series continued in a more risqué vein, with myself as the sole author.

Here is a short sample from the book:

Then his mouth covered hers, teeth clashed as he tore at her mouth. “Mine,” he ground out against her lips. The message seared into her soul, reinforced by a powerful wave of explosive pleasure that shook her to the core, ripping through her so violently that she howled her release like a she wolf.

Family Of Strangers by Barbara Willis

    0 out of 5

What would you do if someone you loved disappeared? What would you do if you were told they’d never existed? This most awful of nightmares comes true for Eva when her closest friend, Annie, vanishes. Even Annie’s parents deny her existence.

The uncertainty of the early months of 1939 has been eclipsed. Eva’s comfortable, normal small town life becomes despairing and desperate, until a friendly hand reaches out to her. The elderly and eccentric Lola shows no surprise at Eva’s tale. Neither does Gabe; young, handsome and distant. They have answers that lead to more questions, and information that leads to confusion. The pair guide Eva through a new and frightening world towards her beloved Annie. Eva is sure that her search has absorbed every part of her, until she realises how close she’s becoming to the mysterious but tender Gabe.

As Eva learns more about the hidden world now exposed to her, the depth of which seems infinite, she finds that people can be lost and all memory of them forsaken. Gabe and Lola are lost, just like Annie; but unlike Annie, no-one is looking for them to guide them home. Eva, now attached to Lola and deeply tied to Gabe, struggles to believe that nothing can be done to help them.

Eva’s search is littered with many things – doubt, discovery, love, belonging and a myriad of scary jigsaw pieces; lost friends, the giving of gifts, a library of books, a troubled conscience and a brilliant pianist. Can Eva piece it all together to see the picture or has she missed something? Does Eva find Annie? Will Gabe reveal his story and are his and Lola’s other lost friends a help or a hindrance?

And is there something crucially important that not one of them is telling Eva?

The Duke’s Holiday by Maggie Fenton

    0 out of 5

Book One in The Regency Romp Trilogy

The Duke of Montford, cold, precise, and more powerful than the Prince Regent himself, wants things the way he wants them: cross-referenced, indexed, and at his beck and call. And he always gets what he wants.

Until he meets Astrid Honeywell. And a giant pig. And a crooked castle in the middle of Yorkshire.

Astrid Honeywell, staunch bluestocking, has struggled for years to keep her family together by running the estate and family brewery after her father’s death. She is not about to let the tyrannical Duke of Montford steal away all she has worked for because of some antiquated contract between their families. So when the priggish Duke comes to call, she does everything in her power — including setting the family pig on him — to drive him away.

She didn’t expect him to be so … well, infuriatingly attractive. Every time he scowls at her, she has the most improper desire to kiss him — and a whole lot more.

Montford can’t decide whether to strangle Astrid or seduce her. The one thing he knows for a fact is that he must resist his powerful attraction for her at all costs. He has a very proper, very demure fiancée waiting for him back in London, after all. But when Astrid is kidnapped by a disgruntled suitor and whisked off to Gretna Green, Montford will do anything to get her back.

Will these two drive each other to Bedlam … or can they make it to the altar without killing each other?

Includes an OCD Duke, a fiery heroine, mistaken identities, errant livestock, pompadours, drunken declarations, a touch of smex, and enough witty banter to sink a ship.

NOTE: This is a sexy historical romance. Recommended for 18+ due to adult content.
