About the author:
Newspaper guy, PR guy, writer guy.
What inspired you to write your book?
Map salesman I knew hit it rich when the Soviet Union broke up and it got me to wondering about his sales calls.
Here is a short sample from the book:
I like being a travelling salesman. My product has few competitors and a client base needing what I sell. And I work for a company that still believes in the personal touch.
I believe in the personal touch.
I have a gift for gab, a store of jokes, good looks, and charm. School secretaries seem to love my smile. The Soviet Union had just broken up into all those Whatzi-stans with all their new capitals, and schools need new maps. I sell maps.
I travel in a deluxe van, complete with bed. I go to some pretty small rural school districts and might not find a motel within 100 miles; course sometimes a guy gets lucky and runs across a lonely widow out there on the prairie. Sofa that makes into a bed comes in handy, too, when you come across…well, maybe you’d like to hear about some of my travels through Kansas.
