Here is a short sample from the book:
A particular memory of when she was young swept over her for a brilliant moment like a flash bulb and she recalled one late night when Jessup and Bunky were playing Truth or Dare with her. Brie was dared to ring that very same bell at midnight, when all the fishermen were asleep for their early date with the trout. The swollen moon hung over the camp lighting up every blade of grass she crushed under her tennis shoes on the long walk to the wooden post with the old iron train bell on it. Since she was two and a half years younger than her brother, she was just happy to be included in their game, but standing there under the dinner bell she had been terrified. She took a deep breath and then rang that bell for all it was worth.
Then she ran. She ran as fast as she could to the place where Jessup and Bunky crouched in hiding, their faces a study in surprise. They didn’t think she’d do it, but she did, and it made her feel great. Not one adult shifted from their beds to see who rang the bell, and when they started to get cold they finally went to bed themselves. An anti climatic end to a thrilling night, but she walked proudly to bed that night with her brother’s proprietary arm slung over her skinny shoulders.
