She looked him straight in the eye. “Why me? Why a human, if it’s not normal for wolves to mate with humans?”
“It has never happened before, not in any pack I have known or heard of. A human mate is absolutely unprecedented. That alone made me wonder at first if I could be wrong. But I am not.”
Blaize brushed a strand of her hair gently off her face. “Phyr could tell just from seeing us together. I think that’s why he acted the way he did before. Even Rohan could see that you are mine, and he doesn’t know me at all. There is simply no denying it.
“And that’s also why you could be in danger. I have to accept my leadership now. And if Rohan wants to get to me, he could threaten my mate. But as long as you are with me, I will keep you safe. He won’t harm you.”
Olivia leaned her head against his chest. “So, what? Just like that, I’m yours? This is a lot to take in,” she said.
“There’s a lot more to it than that. I’ll tell you everything. But not now.”
Titling her head up, Blaize leaned down, his lips meeting hers. His embrace switched from caring to passionate in the blink of an eye.
Just his kiss was enough to set her heart racing again. Gripping her hair like he would never let go, his tongue took possession of her mouth. He was demanding now, even more so than he had been last night. Now Olivia could see hints of what Rohan had brought out of him earlier, a determined possessiveness that was making her face burn as she wanted him even more.
