About the author:
Nicki Knight writes quick reads with couples who have always played by the rules. They deserve a night of no-holds-barred romance with no regrets.
And of course, a guaranteed happily ever after!
What inspired you to write your book?
After reading romance for years, I enjoy stories I can read in one sitting, with couples who have good hearts and aren't out to hurt each other. I write the kinds of stories I enjoy, like finding a soul mate when you least expect it. Fun bedroom scenes spice up life, along with a HEA that makes me smile.
Here is a short sample from the book:
I yawned again and cut off the TV. Before I could stand, Tracy came through the door. “Home early again?” I asked.
She groaned. “I don’t think Pep-go boy is the one.”
I patted the couch beside me. “The odds were never in his favor.”
“Maybe it’s just me.” Tracy plopped down on the couch and tears filled her eyes. “I was so sure this time.”
“Why do they always have to be ‘the one’? What if he’s just ‘the one’ for now?”
“You don’t get it.”
“I get the fact you want to be happy. What if finding ‘the one’ isn’t what will make you happy?”
She wiped the tears. “My parents met in college and they’ve been married for thirty years. I want what they have.”
“I could be wrong, but I don’t think you can force love.”
“What do you know about love?”
Not much, apparently. “My parents loved each other, but I haven’t looked at relationships the same way since they died.”
“Caitlyn, have you ever…”
I raised an eyebrow. “Ever?”
“Never mind. I think I know the answer.” Tracy smiled. “Sometimes I envy how you’ve got nothing to worry about, before I remember why you have the money.”
“I want to prove I can do this on my own. That’s why I try to save the money for a rainy day.”
“It rains in my life daily.”
We both laughed.
“Maybe you’re right,” she said. “Maybe I should stop focusing on finding my forever guy and start enjoying today.”
“Maybe.”
“If only we could find you someone. You know, sex is a great way to relieve stress.”
I burst into laughter. “Do I look stressed?”
“Well, it’s a good reason to find someone.”
“I don’t need a reason.”
She looked over my face. “Holy shit, there is someone.”
My smile died. “I didn’t say—”
“It’s not what you said; it’s what you didn’t say.” Tracy jumped to her feet. “I’ll throw some popcorn in the microwave and you can tell me all about him.”
