About the author:
I live in Auckland, New Zealand with my Indian born husband. Our two children are at university. We have a little Pomeranian dog and a ginger cat. I am currently editing and proof-reading my second book, Julie & Kishore – Take Two. A third book to complete the trilogy is currently in the wings, which has many of the same characters but is a different story, it is called Nina’s Art.
What inspired you to write your book?
Julie & Kishore is loosely based on my own life. My Indian born husband and I met over 20 years ago, in the late ’80’s. We faced trials and tribulations as an inter-racial couple at that time, so I decided to write a story about us, although I have added more ‘spice’ to the story to make it more interesting. Julie & Kishore is perhaps 40% non-fiction and 60% fiction.
Here is a short sample from the book:
Even from behind she was beautiful with her ponytail bouncing up and down in a saucy fashion. From that moment on Kishore was absolutely captivated by her, besotted. In an instant he knew in his mind she was, ‘the one.’
With his heart beating a little faster than it should he decided to ask Gillian who the girl was. When Kishore started working at McAllister and Co., he very quickly learnt that Gillian was the one to go to when you wanted to know something or anything. With a gleam in her eye, Gillian told him, the red-head was the new office supply person.
