About the author:
Olene Quinn is the author of historical fiction and contemporary romance novels. She is a self-described armchair historian and crazy cat lady who resides in Northern California.
What inspired you to write your book?
Harmony Ridge, the fictional town in which my romance novels take place is based off my small hometown in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. April's story was inspired by own misadventures living off-the-grid in a 26 foot travel trailer with my mom and sister for a year. Whether our troubles were caused by the lack of electricity, one of our many farm animals, record-breaking rain, or California's infamous fire season, our adventures became hilarious only in retrospect.
Many of April's more unfortunate events are based on a true story. Names have been changed to protect the guilty.
Here is a short sample from the book:
If Bay Watch had a wilderness search and rescue spin-off, that would be the women's uniform, J.T. thought as he peered at April. Only a SoCal girl would show up at the river in that outfit. Those jeans were so damn tight there was no way she could fit a nickel in her pocket, much less a lure. And what was cleavage supposed to do? Attract all the freshwater halibut? The only thing that coat would camouflage her against would be a bottle of Pepto Bismol.
She looked hot.
Hotter certainly than the lukewarm coffee he sipped from a travel mug.
