About the author:
When not writing sexy romances, they both enjoy spending time with their families, traveling, all things fashion, reading and tons of coffee!
What inspired you to write your book?
We wanted to create a strong female lead while keeping the male lead character an Alpha male. It was important to us that we infuse romance and suspense with a little comedy here and there.
Here is a short sample from the book:
What a wickedly intrusive sound so early in the morning. Groping around in the dark feeling for the noisy alarm, I pound on the first button I find. That seems to do the trick, as it is silent again. Well, aside from the gurgling sounds coming from the guy next to me.
What was his name again? Oh yes, Kevin. No! Not that long…hmmm is it Karl? No not that either. Oh yes, it was Kyle, the same name as my ex-brother in-law whom I never could stand.
If I am to keep this body in shape, I had better figure out how to get my sorry ass out of bed.
I pry one eye open and shut it quickly as it burns. I stayed up excessively late; it’s brutal to get up this early. I do not know what I was thinking going out last night. At my age, I should be home knitting.
Berating myself, I strain to pull up into a sitting position. I force my eyes open and stand on shaking legs. I am so sore from the busy night with Kyle. He is a sex machine despite the numerous drinks at both the bar and my house. I hardly remember a thing after pulling up to my house in the cab. I vaguely remember locking the front door and then pouncing on him.
As I take steps toward my bathroom, I trip over one of my stilettos and nearly impale my foot on the spiked heel.
“Ouch! Damn it!”
“Huh?”
I whirl around and see a sleepy Kyle looking at me.
“Nothing…I just stepped on my shoe. Hey! Wake up!” His eyes are shut again. “Seriously Kyle, you need to leave! I have to go for a run and get to work.”
He doesn’t respond. The snoring begins again.
I sigh loudly then I walk over and get on the bed straddling his sleeping body. I lean down and kiss him tenderly at first and then as his lips soften and move under mine, I deepen my tempo. He responds by slipping his tongue in my mouth…I grind my hips against his and notice other parts of his body waking up. Abruptly, I move to climb off him and his eyes fly open “Hey wait! Where do you think you are going? Aren’t you going to finish what you started?”
Now standing by the bed, “No, that was your wake up call. Now get dressed. I have to get my day started and you aren’t part of the plan today.”
“Um…ok.” He looks baffled and deflated.
“Besides, didn’t you say you had a meeting with one of your professors this morning? I would not want to stand in the way of your higher education.” I holler from the walk in closet. From out in the room I hear him grunt something in response but I’m not really listening.
I step out of the closet and turn to face the mirror. I gasp. I do not look well. My face is pale and pasty while my dark brown eyes are bloodshot along with steamer trunks for bags under them. I find a hair tie and pull my long dark brown hair into a ponytail. Good thing I am just going for a jog. Hoping that this early in the day, nobody will see me. I place the blinged out baseball hat on my head, stick my toothbrush in my mouth, and head out to see what kind of progress my bootie call is making.
“Kyle?”
He is nowhere to be seen. I dispense with my toothbrush and head downstairs to find him.
As I head down the stairs, I hear a noise coming from the kitchen. I sure as hell hope that’s he and not an intruder. I don’t have the time for that nonsense otherwise.
“Kyle? You down here?”
“Yeah, I’m locating my clothes. Where are we exactly? I have to get back to my car.”
Oh, shit! I hadn’t thought of that. I don’t have my car here either we took a cab home.
“We are in the Montlake area, about a twenty minute cab ride at this time of day.” His face has a stricken look. I roll my eyes at him. “Don’t worry; I’ll pay for your cab fare. I think your other shoe is over there.” I point to the sofa in the great room.
His clothes are literally strewn throughout the house, well, I guess so are mine. I don’t know how I made it up the stairs with one shoe on while the other one is down here in the kitchen. I need to learn that at my age, this is not appropriate behavior especially for someone in my position.
Now that my plaything has found all his belongings, we both stand awkwardly in my kitchen waiting for his cab to arrive.
