About the author:
L.A. Blythe discovered her love for books at an early age. She is a hopeless romantic at heart and believes that everyone deserves their happily ever after. An East Coast native hailing from the Tri-State area, L.A. Blythe hates the cold weather, but loves her chunky sweaters and cups of coffee. When she's not writing, she can be found traveling, binge-watching TV, spending time with loved ones, and obsessing over all things Harry Potter.
Here is a short sample from the book:
I don’t want to get my hopes up. For all I know, the person who knocked on the door could be one of my dad’s goons. He promised he wouldn’t have them tail after me today, but he’s notoriously overprotective and paranoid, so I wouldn’t put it past him to go back on his word to me. I can already hear his voice in my head, explaining it away, justifying it. I’m your father, not one of your little friends. It’s my job to protect you at all times and at all costs.
The thing is, I don’t ask for much. The least my dad could do is allow me my one and only birthday wish.
Unlike most girls my age, all I wanted for my fifteenth birthday was one day of independence. One day of peace and tranquility. One day to just be regular old Micaela and not Micaela Giorgia Moretti, daughter of the head of one of the Five Families in New York City.
Taking a deep breath, I finally open the door.
Standing in the hallway is none other than Ajax. My former best friend. The boy I share a July Third birthday with. The boy I was supposed to marry before everything went to hell in a hand basket. The first-born son of mafia Don Nicolo Caruso, my dad’s number one enemy, and heir to a bloody throne.
