What inspired you to write your book?
I was inspired by my time living and traveling in the middle east. I love the romance drama and wanted to combine it with my love for the Middle East.
Here is a short sample from the book:
The air is different in the Middle East, and I can already sense it as the thick, dense heat latches onto my skin and seeps into my pores. Being born and raised as a Texas girl, this doesn’t bother me one bit…I’m used to sweltering temperatures.
The roar of airplane engines taking off and landing above me in the sky fills my ears, and I absorb my surroundings with the magical mixture of vulnerability and excitement.
I’ve never been outside of the United States, and here I am in Khalifa, United Arab Emirates. It’s quite a leap for my first trip across the pond, but I’m ready to embrace the culture that undoubtedly awaits me.
I stand in the pick-up area, shifting my weight awkwardly for a few moments and clutching my bag when an older man with a white beard and a black turban approaches me. I’m already sweating buckets; I have immense amounts of respect for the people in this city who remain robed and cloaked from head to toe in heavy garments.
“You need help miss?” He offers me a timid smile with a twinkle in his eye. He looks friendly enough so I engage him. His English is fragmented with a heavy accent, but I can understand him nonetheless.
