What inspired you to write your book?
By the time I began writing Light and Dark Magic, I had published a couple of Books on Kindle, figured out how to publish books on a few other platforms, and written far more than I had ever thought I could. I was in deep with the story, the characters, and the magic even if I had no idea how to market any of it. I needed to keep writing books just to answer my friends questions and continue the story. More information about the seven grey dragons and their prophecy had to be explained, but the characters got seriously interwoven with the other characters by this point as all seven dragons were trying to convince the women that they had rescued to become their Valkyrie. The house at Draoithe was nearly finished, and the pack needed to move so it could expand properly. Things were tight, dangerous, and often Volatile with so many alpha personalities and unbonded shifters messing things up. Oh and it was a paranormal romance so the steamy scenes had to be good. Can't just rinse and repeat or the readers get bored and stop reading. But happily ever after sort of was still seriously important and cheating was still banned. This was also about the time that branding book covers became a thing I had to explore seriously.
Here is a short sample from the book:
“Blaze, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you upset. I am not toying with you. I am just very confused. No man has ever treated me the way you do. I don’t have a reason to reject you. I just can’t figure out why you act as if you want to kiss me, but then don’t.” Grace trailed off. She studied him.
“I am not a man who would force a woman. You are everything. I never want to push you away or hurt you. I would rather wait a thousand more years for you to choose me than to think that I might somehow make you equate me the same as the fools who carelessly hurt you just for their own pleasure.” He looked at her waiting to see if she could accept his truth.
“If I told you I wanted you to kiss me, that I desire to know what you feel for me, to know if it could be real, what then?” She whispered it softly as if she were afraid but desperate to know at the same time.
Blaze leaned into her, and for the very first time in his life, he kissed a woman that he truly desired. He kissed the one woman that was meant for him. He kissed Grace the way he thought she ought to be kissed, with the passion that was in his whole heart. His lips touched hers, and the dragon flame skipped over them as he slipped his arms around her and drug her into his lap. He kissed her with abandonment of his pride and position.
For that one moment, she was the only thing that mattered in the whole world. She became his whole world. His lips claimed hers, and he let them travel over hers pressing into her as they moved over hers. His tongue slipped out and traced the path hers had travelled earlier, and her lips parted in invitation for him to taste her. He let his tongue take control of her whole mouth. He wanted to taste the jasmine in her blood and share her soul. He made love to her mouth so she knew his basest desire.
Grace groaned into the kiss, and he was lost to the feel of her against him. His erection pressed large and hard against her thigh. He wanted her as he had never wanted another woman. No other would ever appeal to him on such a deep carnal level as she did. Grace was his lifemate.
