What inspired you to write your book?
I had left Ryker practically dead in Magic Calls to Magic and my friends who were reading the manuscripts were rather upset with me. I had to get him out of the 'dead zone' and tell his story. But The very thing that Fox had been unsuccessfully chasing knowledge on for years contacted him and then showed up at Eli's house hoping for help finding his missing life mate. The magic was building the mor tuath (full over kingdom), and dragons wanted to serve the kings that supported Luke Mendez. Only one of the kings had not yet been raised or discovered until a little snowy owl showed up desperate for help saving a bear. That of course led to another book. I thought I had figured out the publishing thing with Kindle and in May of 2017, I published A Pack Forms on Kindle. Then I published it as a paperback. Nothing happened much, but I was still working on the series. Now the friends who had become my beta readers demanded that I explain the dragons and their mate handlers. That meant more books because there was seven dragons. On to Book 5.
Here is a short sample from the book:
Her fingers brushed his as she took the soup from him. And time seemed to freeze for Ryker.
She sucked in her breath and cocked her head at him with a very confused look on her face as their fingers touched. He felt it, too. There seemed to be an electric charge between their fingers. He glanced down at their hands where they touched, and then looked up into her golden eyes. He was entranced. Did she feel the charge between them?
Lily had been abused. He could not act on it. There was no way he would ever hurt her. He wanted her to trust him. That did not mean that he did not want to kiss her breathless. She began to withdraw her hand from his, but reluctantly, slowly, as if she wanted to feel the electricity between them. He did not move. He froze and let her feel it. Ryker suffered it for her. It was a sweet little form of torture. He wanted to feel it, too.
His mouth parted in pure pleasure from her lingering touch. He felt he needed more air to breathe. He could not look away from her. If she had made any request of him, he would have complied with her desire. She did not speak. She just let her hand trace further along his hand. Her fingers traced over the backs of his.
Her fingers were tracing over his hand and caressing his fingers. He realized that her fingers were committing to memory the way his hand felt to her, the way the electricity skipped between them. She seemed to be in total awe. She was lost to tracing his hand. He could think of nothing else.
Ryker did not want her to stop. The moment was too surreal. This broken little kitten in front of him discovered that she was still a woman. Lily was still attracted to men, to him. She was excited by his touch. He did not move, just let her take from him what she needed. Her fingers felt good on his hand. He liked that she wanted to touch him.
He wanted only to give. He took nothing from her, but he could not look away. Her intense awe at her discovery glowed in her eyes in the dark. He was completely mesmerized by her.
“Do you feel that?” Lily whispered her question to him. He nodded.
Ryker was trapped in her spell. He feared to speak unless the spell be broken. He felt it like fire in his veins.
She closed her hand on his as he held the cup. He groaned low in his throat when she closed her eyes from his view. He was totally entranced by her hand on his hand. He had never been so turned on by such an innocent touch. Never had he felt guilt at being excited by a woman. He had not expected this visceral reaction to only her hand
touching his. It was like some arcane magic had engineered their touch to be intensely sensual and erotic.
She opened her eyes to study him once more. She reached her other hand to take the soup from him. He let go of the cup, her hand left his, and he breathed.
“I have never experienced anything like that before. Forgive me. I do not understand what happened.” Immortality was too new. This was outside the realm of anything he ever expected to feel.
Ryker shook his head trying to clear the seriously erotic vision of her writhing beneath him from his mind. He was so hard that it was painful. She likely did not need to be made aware of his physical reaction to her touch either.
