About the author:
C. C. Davenport lives an ordinary but rich life with her husband of 25 years. She loves to sit on her screened in porch with the company of her two Akitas as they watch deer play in the nearby woods. She also loves visiting Las Vegas, finding antique Coca Cola memorabilia, and reading true crime.
Here is a short sample from the book:
The wind whispered through the leaves, making a crackling sound as green foliage turned to bright shades of yellow and red. Sarah sat on her back porch enjoying the cool fall air and the smell of dry leaves as they fell silently to the ground.
Sarah looked out over the woods located around her small cabin. Many times she would watch squirrels as they leapt from tree to tree or scurry hungrily for nuts. Deer would pause and look at her curiously from their position at the edge of the forest. The various birds would gather to roost at night making a clamoring noise until the leader shut it down and all feathered creatures were silent for the night.
However, the last few nights and days for that matter, had been different. Sarah worked from home for an insurance agency. As the temperature warmed she would work from her laptop on the outside patio table. All summer she had listened to the sounds of nature, but now those sounds had ceased.
