About the author:
"Let me be that I am and seek not to alter me."
–William Shakespeare, Much Ado About Nothing.
I have been writing for as long as I can remember. One of my mentors (you know who you are) often reminds me of my first foray into the world of literary fiction. It was a lively story about a bee's journey to find a pot of missing honey. He says that I have improved since then. I think that he's right.
I am a working wife and mother, as well as a devoted owner of a beautiful cat named Rosie. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family, thrifting, and anything that reminds me of my childhood.
My favorite genres are Sweet Romance, Science Fiction, Dystopian and Historical.
What inspired you to write your book?
I love the story of The LIttle Mermaid, and I also love young adult contemporary romance. So, I thought, why not smash them together. Ariel is a great model for what a character should be like in a YA romance. She has great growth throughout the book, and she has a lot of first. Her first crush, her first adventure out of the sea, her first taste of distrust and betrayal. I thought it would be fun to explore all of that in a contemporary setting.
Here is a short sample from the book:
He tips my chin up with the crook of his finger. My eyes drift to his lips, then back up to meet his gaze. His lips curl in a ravishing sort of way.
The band starts up another song. It only takes me a moment to recognize it this time. It’s the same song that played that night at the lagoon—“Kiss the girl.”
“Remember that kiss I leant you?”
My mind jumps back to the morning before we ran away, when he pressed a kiss to my palm.
I nod, a little too eagerly. “I remember.”
“I think I want it back now.”
Oh yeah.
His lips meet mine, and for that brief moment in time, the world stops spinning. The music turns up. My heart beats hard to the rhythm. In those few seconds, there’s only Eric and me, souls intertwining, feet not touching the floor.
I love Eric. I’ll never deny it again. But the best part is he loves me to.
And that’s the best feeling of all.
