Beyond the Fall by Diane Scott Lewis

Tamara Ledbetter, dumped by her arrogant husband, travels to Cornwall, England, to research her ancestors. A trip first planned with her soon-to-be ex. While in a neglected cemetery, she scrapes two fallen headstones together to read what’s beneath, faints, and awakes in 1789. Certain she’s caught in a reenactment, she fast discovers she’s in the year of the French Revolution, grain riots in England, miners out of work, and she’s mistrusted by the young farmer, Colum Polwhele, who’s come to her aid. Can a sassy San Francisco gal survive in this primitive time where women have few rights? Could she fall for Colum, a man active in underhanded dealings that involve stolen grain, or will she struggle to return to her own time before danger stalks them both?

About the author:

I'm originally from California and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. After having poems and short-stories published in school magazines, I had a short story submitted to a literary festival from my high school. I joined the navy at nineteen and met my future husband while stationed in Nea Makri Greece. We raised two boys and lived in Puerto Rico, California and Guam before transferring to Washington, DC. Settling in Virginia, I again pursued my love of writing. I joined the Riverside Writers chapter of the Virginia Writers Club and worked as a free-lance editor. As well as being published in, I edited their second anthology, Riverside Echoes. I designed and edited their website until October 2011. I worked as a historical editor for The Wild Rose Press and wrote book reviews for the
Historical Novel Society's magazine,
Historical Novels Review.

My first novel, The False Light, was published in 2010, followed by my second, Elysium, in 2011.
Without Refuge, the sequel to The False Light was released in March 2012. With my new publisher, I've published Betrayed Countess (formally The False Light) in 2012, The Defiant Lady Pencavel in 2013, and Ring of Stone in 2014, all eighteenth century historical novels. In 2015 my first mystery, The Apothecary's Widow was released. On a Stormy Primeval Shore, published in 2017, is part of the Canadian Brides Series and takes place in New Brunswick. My newest release is a Time-travel, Beyond the Fall.

Bride of Dunloch (Highland Loyalties Trilogy, Volume 1) by Veronica Bale @VeronicaBale1

    0 out of 5

Author Veronica Bale’s debut novel, Bride of Dunloch, is a gripping story of love and conflict in the time of the first Scottish War of Independence, and of one young girl’s struggle to determine for herself what is right and what is wrong.

In the watery grey light of a late spring dawn, two forces meet to oppose one another at the main gate of Dunloch Castle, an imposing structure nestled deep in the Scottish Highlands. On the attacking side are the MacGillivrays—a clan dispossessed of its ancestral lands and home because its members would not swear loyalty to the English King Edward the First. Dunloch is theirs, and they will take it back—by any means necessary.

So is the world in which Jane Sewell, a young and naive English girl of noble birth whose hand has been given away in marriage, finds herself. It is a land that is as bloody and brutal as it is beautiful. But when she stumbles upon a wounded Scottish warrior from the enemy MacGillivray clan, her compassionate nature will not allow her to abandon him. Against her better judgement, she resolves to help him in secret.

As tensions at Dunloch intensify, however, Jane finds herself torn between her duty—and her heart. For in these Scottish Highlands, loyalties can change as quickly as the weather …

In 1935, the Nazis established a program called “The Lebensborn.”

Their agenda, to genetically engineer perfect Aryan children.

These children were to be the new master race, once Hitler had cleared all undesirable elements out of Europe. Within a year the first institution was built.

    The year is 1943….

The forests of Munich are crawling with danger under the rule of “The Third Reich,” but in order to save the life of her unborn child Petra Jorgenson must escape from the Lebensborn Institute. Alone, seven months pregnant, and penniless avoiding the watchful eyes of the armed guards in the overhead tower, she waits until the dead of night. Then, Petra climbs under the flesh shredding barbed wire that surrounds the institute and at the risk of being captured and murdered she runs headlong into the terriying desolate woods.

Even during one of the darkest periods in the history of mankind, when horrific acts of cruelty became commonplace and Germany seemed to have gone crazy following the direction of a madman, unexpected heros came to light. And although there were those who would try to destroy it, true love would prevail. Here, in this lost land ruled by human monsters, Petra will learn that even when one faces what appears to be the end of the world if one looks hard enough one will find that there is always “A Flicker Of Light.”

The Wedding Bed by Ava Archer Payne

    0 out of 5

Miss Calla Lily Staunton. Her given name had meant nothing to him, but he remembered her.he wild one. The troublemaker. The one who’d attacked a cobra with a stick, smoked a hornet’s nest, and challenged him to a horse race across along the muddy banks of the Hooghly River. The one who’d attempted to adopt a tiger cub after local hunters had shot and killed its mother. The scar along her jaw was a reminder of the folly of that act—a lifelong reminder, evidently—proof that the cub, though young, was not nearly as docile as she’d assumed. The Hindu woman kept speaking, and the word nayan caught his ear. Matchmaker. He forced his attention back to her agitated monologue in time to hear, “…has come to England to marry.” His gaze returned to Miss Staunton. “My congratulations. And who is the lucky groom?”

The lamp beside her sputtered and flared, enabling him a better view of her face. Her eyes, he noted, were not brown at all, but blue. Deep blue. Eyes that suddenly twinkled with devilish glee. Her remarkable lips quirked upward as she replied with a single word that made his blood run cold.

    “You.”
