About the author:
“I will let you know when we have an offer on the house,” said Alan. “No, thank you for trusting DCK Realty with selling your home. All right, goodbye and have a great day!”
Alan hung up the receiver of his office phone and swiveled his chair towards his computer screen. He logged into his computer terminal and opened his email.
The client had just sent pictures of his lovely little one story bungalow for Alan to post onto the company’s website.
Alan hadn’t been with the D.C.K very long and if he continued to not make sales, he wouldn’t be with the company much longer. Despite Alan’s natural charm and likability, he just couldn’t close a sale. It didn’t matter the type of house he just couldn’t close.
Alan’s boss Mr. Ritchie was giving Alan one more try at a sale. He told Alan that if he couldn’t sell Mr. Peters’ bungalow then he would have to let him go.
Alan took his time posting the pictures Mr. Peters’s had sent of his empty home. Alan was no photoshop expert, but he knew enough to really make the images of the bungalow pop. He had to or else he might as well be working on his resume instead of the pictures.
It only took Alan a few moments to add some final touches to the photos to make the bungalow really pop. To be honest, the bungalow really did look amazing in real life. Alan just needed to get people into the house to have someone fall in love with it, even if it meant making the pictures look a little “emphasized” on the computer screen.
Alan had just completed posting the pictures and listing the house when Jared walked in.
Jared was a tall thin man with beady brown eyes. He must have been in a fraternity when he was in college because he only wore polo pastel colored shirts and pants. He had an air about him that invited total dislike, even before he spoke.
“I could help get that sweet bungalow off your hands,” said Jared with a cocky grin. “I won’t ask for too much….how does half of the commission sound?”
“Now, why would I give you half of the bungalow commission?” asked Alan in a sarcastic tone.
“Everyone in the office knows that this is your last shot at staying with the company,” said Jared with an air of superiority in his voice. “I’d hate to see you out of a job.”
Alan rolled his eyes. He knew that word had gotten around that he was on his last leg as an employee at DCK Realty. He couldn’t deny that fact. He knew that this was his last chance to stay with the company. He hated that Jared was right and he hated that everyone in the office knew how hard up he was.
