What inspired you to write your book?
This is my first contemporary series. I am multi-published in historical fantasy. My Shadow-walkers series is inspired by my time as a rock and roll bassist. There is also music to go along with this series, and a free song download is available for each book purchase.
Here is a short sample from the book:
Excerpt:
I met the new P.A. and hired her on the spot. Wait until Kane hears about this. Friggin’ hell, I missed him. Maybe Brit was right. I had the urge to send him a text. I’d been out on a couple of dates just to test the waters, but neither resulted in a second date or even a meaningful kiss. None could compare to Kane. It wasn’t just his movie-star status that placed him on a higher plateau. It was the tender way he said my name, the way he held me as if he never wanted to let go, and the way he looked at me as if I was the only person in the room. Resolve seized me. That’s it. I’m texting him.
So I sent him a short message. I had to hire a P.A. today.
Nothing. I set my phone back down and tried to focus on work. After a half hour had passed, it dinged. My pulse racing, I grabbed it and tapped the screen.
Kane had sent a reply. LOL Glad to hear from you. Weird. I was thinking of you. I miss you. A lot.
I reread his text a couple of times. My body tingled. How do I respond? From the heart.
I miss you too. A lot. Are you going on drunken binges over there?
Nope. On my diet. Keeps me in line.
Good. I’m not there to help you unfasten your pants.
LOL You can still unfasten them anytime, beautiful. Been reading your books.
Sex scenes?
Aye.
And pleasuring yourself?
LOL You bet, love.
LOL
Are you up for some sexting later?
Hell yeah.
That’s my lass. Gotta run. Filming. Have a surprise for you. Check with B tomorrow.
A surprise?
I didn’t get any more texts from Kane that night, but he was probably busy or sleeping, since there was an eight-hour time difference. Too excited about his earlier text, I could hardly sleep.
First thing in the morning, I texted Britany. Hey, Brit. Kane said to check with you. Said he had a surprise for me. Going nuts here.
It’s a plane ticket to Ireland. GF, he’s so in love with you.
Stunned, I gaped at her message. He was sending for me, which meant he wanted to go public with our relationship.
I had to be sure so I texted him. Wow. What a surprise. Are you sure you are ready? I am if you are.
Nothing.
I went about my Sunday, coordinating a schedule of what I needed done with my new P.A. Apparently, P.A.s did whatever you wanted them to do, within reason of course. Well, it had to be legal anyway.
Still nothing from Kane. Too jacked up to work, I picked up my bass and played along to some songs. Someone banged on my door. I sighed, paused my music file on my laptop, set my bass down and turned off my amp. Probably an angry neighbor coming to complain about the loud noise. More frantic raps reverberated.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m coming.” Geez. I opened the door.
Britany stood there, crying. “Where the hell have you been? I’ve been trying to call you.”
My chest tightened. “Here. I was playing my bass. I didn’t hear my phone. What’s wrong? Come inside.” I moved aside and shut the door behind her.
“It’s Kane. There was an accident on the set. He was hurt during a fight scene. It’s serious, Kaitlyn.”
