Jeremy Spencer is just nineteen-years-old, and planning a long-awaited trip to the continent. He’s blindsided when his father informs him that he arranged his marriage years ago, and the wedding will take place in a week. Maybe the news would have gone over better if his bride wasn’t a thirteen-year-old girl.

Anne Jones had a happy childhood until her Papa became ill. Afraid of leaving her alone he contacts his old friend, William Spencer, to see if the betrothal between their children is going to be honored. He needs to know that Anne will be cared for before he dies.

The two will wed and then separate immediately after. They’ll be apart for more than five years. Anne will finish her education, and when Jeremy doesn’t return, make plans to go on with her life. She hopes she never sets eyes on Jeremy Spencer again; she just needs him to sign the annulment papers.

Jeremy is angry when he leaves for his tour of the continent, and vows not to return until the marriage can be annulled. He spends the next five years doing what young men do, because he never expects his marriage to last.

Jeremy finally returns with the intent to end his marriage, but one look at Anne makes him change his mind. He’ll have to work hard to get her to forgive him. Anne is smart, strong-willed, and not afraid to stand up for herself. She refuses to listen to Jeremy’s excuses or apologies, until he turns her over his knee and spanks her, and she agrees to give the marriage a chance.

Can Anne forgive and the two find happiness together?

He’s determined to meet her, and learn more about her before he leaves the city.

Nellie O’Malley has grown up on her Da’s ship traveling the seas on a boat filled with all men. When her Da is unfairly arrested by the Sheriff of Glasgow, she begins roaming the city, and finds out that the sheriff will overlook most crimes for a bit of coin. She steps in many times, but always with the hood on her cloak pulled up so no one can see her.

When James is arrested after a tavern brawl, he’s thrown into a cell with Liam O’Malley and Tomas. After the three of them talk, they decide to take matters into their own hands and expose the Sheriff of Glasgow to King James. When James finds out that Liam is looking for a husband for his daughter Nellie, he quickly volunteers. The only problem is getting Nellie to agree. • Her Brave Knight by Bethany Hauck

Emelia Scott has been held captive by Stephen Thompson for a very long time, and she hates him. To get his hands on lands that her family owns, he informs her that in two days she’ll be joining him, first at the altar and then in his bed. She’s not sure what to do, but she knows she can’t marry the man that killed her family.
Owen McCabe made a promise to free Emelia Scott from the Thompsons, and he intends to keep it. It takes him months of planning, but with the help of his friend, John, and Emelia’s maid, Kirstie, he’s finally able to locate her and help her escape.Nothing goes according to his plan, and Owen and Emelia are pursued, first across England and then Scotland, as Stephen Thompson tried to take back the woman he needs to complete his plan.
Owen will do whatever it takes to keep Emelia safe, including marrying her at the anvil in Gretna Green. The two will get to know each other well as they travel to the Highlands, finding they have much in common. Emelia can’t wait to see her family again, and Owen is determined to make that happen. Being young and impulsive, she makes some bad decisions, leading to her being bent over her new husband’s knee.

Although ‘The McCabe Books 1-6’ are stand-alone stories, I highly recommend reading book 5 “A Man of Honor” before reading book 6 “Her Brave Knight”. The stories in these two books complete one long tale. Many of the characters in this book have been introduced earlier in books 1-5.
