  • Covington Stone – In Honor of Remington Steele: A Stone Faced Colt by Michael Volpi

    0 out of 5

Covington Stone owns a failing private investigation agency in LA. He’s a handsome mid-30’s guy, blue collar, smart, comes from old school NYC Hell’s Kitchen tough neighborhood. He recently had a stint in the NYPD before moving to LA and inheriting his uncles PI business.

He’s ambitious; wants his agency to grow and to have big-ticket clients, with many employees and offices all over the country. He misses New York City, and is constantly grouchy about L.A.

Problem? He can’t break out of this rut of sleazy, low-end assignments – divorces, cheating spouses, drugs, prostitution, insurance fraud, with each client being more unsavory, unscrupulous, and deadbeat than the last. When he approaches “big ticket clients” like movie stars, high-end attorneys, and big business executives, they always turn their nose down at him.

Depressed and at his wits end, he attends the “Law Enforcement, Investigations and Security Industry Summit” an annual professional convention in which people in law enforcement, investigation, security, etc, can attend to promote their business, learn new tactics, meet new people, mingle, attend panels, and listen to speakers.

This seems to deject him more as he meets several people who lucked into the higher end of the industry, getting the kind of assignments he wants. Drowning his sorrows at a nearby pub, a beautiful brunette sits next to him – Kerrie Barnett, former employee of the James Lindsend Detective Agency. There he learns that she was one of Jamie’s Saints.

She suggests that he get a female partner. Not one for men to ogle, but a beautiful, resourceful, educated woman who will provide him with that ‘in’ with the type of clientele he’s seeking. Covington’s a bit old school macho and thinks that this type of work is too dangerous for a woman, but his conversation with Kerrie makes him rethink that stance.

After interviewing a whole bunch of girls, they’re either vapid or crazy. He’s about to give up for good, when suddenly, Gilberto DaCosta, a rare gems merchant shows up at his office who said that Kerrie recommended him and his “partner”. Partner?

Covington nervously plays along trying to figure out what’s going on, pretending he does have that person, and then right before his lie is about to be blown, all of a sudden appears Sarah Colt.

Forced to solve a jewel heist case, “Sarah” is very secretive about herself and he believes Kerrie sent her. Who was this woman? Was she up to something? Was she hiding something? Was she someone important? Did she have a lot of friends? Or did she upset the wrong people? Or was she dangerous? All Covington could get from the case they were working on together was that Sarah was beautiful, an expert hand to hand combatant, multilingual – she’s got a whole bunch of skills…

The Jack Lazar Series has it all from mystery and suspense to action, humor and romance

Jack’s best friend, Zachary Taylor, is roused out of bed in the middle of the night at his apartment in Paris and taken away at gunpoint, but not before he sends Jack a safety deposit key with a note saying he’s in trouble. If only he had given a clue regarding the location of the box, its contents, or what the hell is going on. Jack tries to call, but Zach’s cell phone goes straight to voicemail.

Clearly, something sinister is afoot in the City of Lights.

Jack heads for Paris to investigate, and in no time he’s accosted by the bad guys. But Jack Lazar isn’t the sort to back down, so he sets up shop in Zach’s Paris flat on a mission to solve the mystery and find his friend.

Sexy, French Flight Attendants Are Nothing But Trouble

Enter Michele – one of Zach’s many girlfriends in Paris. She’s upset to discover Zach is missing, but her idea of being consoled is to shed her clothes, plant herself in Jack’s arms, and mercilessly tantalize him. She’s ostensibly off-limits, of course, which wedges Jack between his growing obsession with her and his allegiance to Zach. It’s a sure prescription for disaster…and some really hot sex.

Uh-Oh. Things Just Got More Complicated

With a little ingenuity, Jack locates and opens the safety deposit box, but the only thing in there is an old bottle of Cognac. Still, it doesn’t take long before people are chasing after it, and they’re willing to kill for it, too. But the eau-de-vie is just the tip of the iceberg, and soon Jack finds himself working with French law enforcement and British Intelligence to stop something truly unthinkable.

Fast-Paced, Edge of Your Seat, Absolute FUN!

The Jack Lazar Series has it all from mystery and suspense to action, humor and romance

Meet Jack Lazar, a wealthy businessman whose battles are usually fought in the boardroom, not on the street for his life. But an evening on the beach at the brink of a raging storm changes all that as he witnesses the shooting of a beautiful woman, saves her life, and thrusts himself into the middle of a corrupt DEA investigation.

To make matters worse, Jack was just blackmailed into leaving his lucrative job by one of the firm’s senior partners, and now he discovers the event is somehow connected to the DEA’s case. How is that even possible? But the DEA won’t tell Jack anything, so he sets off on his own mission to solve the mystery, and every step digs him deeper into trouble.

Sexy Government Agents Always Make Things More Complicated

Sarina is the stunning, exotic agent Jack rescued, and she gets a little out of hand when it comes to sex. So Jack is immediately hooked as any red-blooded male would be, and it’s probably why he pushes so hard for them to join forces. But Sarina has a knack for disregarding orders and creating havoc, so it doesn’t take long before people want to kill her…and Jack, too.

First in the Jack Lazar Series

Lazar’s Intrigue is the completely rewritten first installment of Sterling’s Jack Lazar Series. It’s an action-packed thriller that will keep you guessing to the very end as Jack and Sarina struggle to stay alive, piece together what’s going on, and hopefully take down the bad guys before it’s too late.
