Author Savannah Young Shares Their Story
Romance novelist Savannah Young grew up in rural northwest New Jersey in a place very similar to the fictional Old Town, which is featured in her books. When she’s not at her computer creating spicy stories, Savannah is traveling to exotic locales or spending time with her husband and their bloodhounds.

What inspires you to write romance books?
I love writing about relationships and human emotion. I have a background in psychology and counseling and I think this helps in writing romantic fiction.
Tell us about how you write:
I write every morning when I wake up. I don’t skip days. I always write, every morning. Once I have the first line of the story, I usually start writing it. I’m not an outliner. I generally let the story evolve.
Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I certainly listen to them but I never talk back! They tend to have minds of their own.
What advice would you give other writers?
Write every day consistently and read just as much as you write.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I think it’s wise to explore all options. Different publishing options are right for different people. I own my own publishing company because I like to have control over all aspects of the publishing process.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think it’s a great time to be an author! There are more options available to get your work to readers than there ever were before.
What genres do you write?
I write using a number of pens names. I write romance as both Dakota Madison and Savannah Young.
