What inspires you to write romance books?
This sounds so corny, but it’s mostly my husband. We’ve been together since I was seventeen and most of that time has been spent apart as he was in the military and then stationed overseas as a civilian. I consider all of my stories to be long love notes about some aspect of him or our relationship. Hey, a girl has to do something to keep busy!

Tell us about how you write:
I spent ten years trying to figure out how to finish a freakin’ book. It truly takes a lot of blood sweat and tears to finally reach the finished product. Eventually I forced myself to sit down, focus, and put the words on a page.

For the most part, I work from a very loose outline I keep in my head as I’m writing. When the details get too large to hold onto, I write out scene by scene to keep the threads from tangling. Then I send off to my team of trusted beta readers and my magnificent editor to pull apart. After that, the process starts all over again until I’m satisfied.

Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
It’s more like I’m watching them on t.v. I observe the scene taking place and try to record it to the best of my abilities.

What advice would you give other writers?
Don’t give up!

I know that’s cliche, but it’s so true.

Oh, and don’t let anyone tell you how to write. Take advice, learn from others, but stay true to yourself.

How did you decide how to publish your books?
I met an amazing author who held my hand the whole way. It’s important to find supportive, knowledgeable people that will give you guidance and advice. Once I learned that I could follow my dreams with self-publishing (I’m a control freak so it works for me!) I started down that road and never looked back.

What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think it will continue to evolve. It’s an exciting time to be an author right now and I’m looking forward to what comes next!

What genres do you write:: Romantic Suspense, Fantasy, Paranormal

What formats are your books in: Both eBook and Print
