When You’re a Stranger by Akash Justin Ovian

Rodney is an unemployed graduate who was recently evicted by his landlord. He believes his life is being crushed under the anxiety caused by his education loan. He finds comfort and strength in his chronic alcoholism and strongly holds on to his crystallized idea that love is nothing but a fancy word used by society to rationalize the raw animalistic drive of sexual attraction.

Prisha is a passionate street artist who relies on sensuality and marijuana to channel her creative energies. She is also a lesbian who is struggling to define her identity in an evolving but insensitive generation of human beings.

When these two people meet over a dangerous dance of whiskey and vodka, they begin to discover the complicated art of forgetting the past and ignoring the future. It doesn’t take long for their stubborn faith in the predictability of life to change into a painful pursuit of affection, belonging, and sexual identity.

Targeted Audience: 18-40

He is a sincere advocate for the liberty of the human spirit and reflects it, uncompromisingly, in each of his works.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I missed my train one winter morning when I was traveling from Indiana to Wisconsin. I noticed that there were five others who missed the train and were stranded in the station along with me. I suddenly noticed how alienated people are from each other. I came to see how disconnected we feel from strangers and how many times we miss such important opportunities to meet wonderful people in our lives. The entire novel came rushing into my mind as I managed to reach Wisconsin by the end of that day. I told myself that I will write something that can depict the adventures that people can find when they loosen themselves and open up to strangers.

The Catalyst by Angela Jardine @Jardange

Image
Sunny Smith is running from her memories. It’s what she does. Settling in a beautiful but remote area of Cornwall she thinks she has found the perfect place to help heal the emotional wounds left by her husband’s untimely death. She believes she has found a sort of freedom but her peace of mind becomes threatened by Jimmy Fisher. Jimmy is an artist. He is also a serial seducer. Although she has been warned about his past, Sunny finds she needs what he offers. Jimmy, too, is unable to remain as detached as he usually prefers to be and unwittingly leads Sunny towards savage violence and an overwhelming guilt. A guilt that demands the ultimate expression of remorse.
The Catalyst is a story of a passionate love affair that endures despite everything … although not quite as you might expect.

Targeted Audience: Women readers of romantic fiction: age group 25 – 55

Author Bio:
I have been an inventor of stories from being a child, usually to get me out of trouble, but at school I wrote them down and was occasionally praised for them. My gestation as a writer has taken a very long time despite putting things down on paper all my life but now I have finally decided to get serious and publish something.

So far my life has been full of adventures ranging from being shipwrecked as a child, learning about my past lives and running away to Cornwall. I have been many things ranging from a pub landlady to civil servant to complementary therapist and having reinvented myself many times I find that, disgracefully, I still do not act my age. I refuse to take life seriously, am irritatingly optimistic and often inexplicably naive.

At the moment I live in an ancient cottage in Cornwall with yet another husband and a rescued ginger ex-tom cat and I am busy catching up with all the writing I really should have done long before. The task is making me very happy. Contact me via my website at angelajardine.com

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I guess a death and a failed romance inspired me to write this particular book though it must be said few of the things that happen in The Catalyst happened to me, fortunately.

It was the subtle and frustrating dance between men and women that I wanted to explore along with the age old themes of betrayal and revenge but of course, without being conventional.
