Deceit and Devotion by Faye Hall

“I will pay you to sleep with my wife.”

Jarrah Miyan, a young half-caste aboriginal man, is supposed to seduce a white woman into an affair so her greed-driven husband can gain full control of her inheritance, including the rare collection of black opals she keeps under lock and key. When he walks into the study to meet the poor chit he’s to take advantage of, he expects to find an aging woman who smells of stale perfume and gin. Who he finds though is the most beautiful woman he’s ever laid eyes on—the same woman whose pale thighs had been wrapped around him just a few hours earlier as she’d begged him to give her pleasure.

After their night of passion together, Emily Holtz doubted she would ever see Jarrah again. To have him standing before her now, asking for employment at her cattle station, was not a situation she had prepared herself for. She agrees to hire him on one condition. He has to spy on her husband and get her the incriminating evidence she needs to apply for a divorce. She’s spent years in a miserable arranged marriage, and she’s desperate to escape. But her husband is a dangerous man, and he will stop at nothing, including murder, to get what he wants.

As they begin to develop feelings for each other, Jarrah worries about what will happen when Emily discovers that he’s been working for both her and her husband. Not that they could ever really be together, as society would never accept that.

Author Bio:
Murder, lies, deception, and love set in the outback under the Australian sun.

These are the stories of Faye Hall.

Her passion driven, mystery filled books are set in North Queensland, Australia during the development of the townships at the end of the 19th century.

Each of her novels bring something symbolically Australian to her readers, from Aboriginal herbal remedies, to certain gemstones naturally only found in this part of the world.

Each of her books tell of a passionate connection between the hero and heroine, surrounded and threatened by deceit, scandal, theft and sometimes even murder.

These romances swerve from the traditional romances as Faye aims to give her readers so much more intrigue, whilst also revealing the hidden histories of rural townships of North Queensland.

Faye finds her inspiration from the histories of not only the township she grew up in, but the many surrounding it. She also bases most of her characters on her own ancestors and their adventures when first migrating to Australia.

Faye was able to live her own passion driven romance, marrying the love of her life after a whirlwind romance in 2013. Together they are raising their 9 children in a remote country town in northern Queensland, Australia.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
My husband and I were talking over a glass of wine about some of the local families from our home town and the hardship they must have faced migrating to Australia. Once of us mentioned it would have been harder for those migrants that be friended or even fell in love with anyone from the local Aboriginal tribes. My husband commented that such a story would be good in one of my books. The rest kin of rolled on from there.

She loves to spend time with her family and generally be outdoors, taking a walk or simply spending time with nature. Music, swimming, dance and reading are her other passions. She lives in India with her husband and two young sons.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
My desire to know about after-life born out of the early loss of my loved ones, has been the real life inspiration behind my new paranormal crime thriller. Here the protagonist, like me, is haunted by dreams and these dreams have sometimes been prophetic or have brought a meaning in her life. My experience with psychics and mediums has also been touched upon through the heroine's life. Her curiosity as well as her refusal to accept the conventional in turn is a catalyst in solving the mystery surrounding her sister's death. This book touches upon subjects such as after-life, spirit guides, dream visitations, police investigations, family ties and are for readers who’d love a thriller or a mystery with a supernatural edge. It also borders round corporate dreams and ambitions – the politics of it that can make or break a person. This too has been hugely inspired by my experience of a career in the corporate world. Hence the book is a journey I can closely relate to which is about loss, defeat, deceit, betrayal, depression and yet finding the light at end of the tunnel.

Jenna Fox’s work is born from real life experiences, an overactive imagination and a consuming caffeine addiction. Sometimes she finds herself writing sex scenes on fast food napkins and store receipts while waiting in traffic, but she’s always guilty of keeping her mind in the gutter. Fox is a listener of bad-ass music and a watcher of classic slasher films. In short, she’s a multi-tasker – a writer, a storyteller, able to make a boo-boo all better with just one kiss and a proud, world class expert at screwing up recipes and scaring away closet monsters. She believes in ghosts and God and is absolutely convinced chocolate soothes the savage beast.

As a fan of suspense and horror, Fox wanted to write a story that would appeal to readers of several genres, including erotica. Sealed in Blood has a little something for everyone.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Sitting one day on the patio of our villa in Paphos, Cyprus I looked bored watching the whitecaps (the sin of Sloth). My wife said, Why don’t you write a book? She had just finished reading the Da Vinci Code and said, Read it; it’s full of mistakes and misconceptions. You could do that. I replied, Yes, I could write a lot of mistakes and misconceptions, but I couldn’t think of a story like that. The seed was planted, though, and a couple of years later I had a story idea for The Saint Luke Mystery. Every “”thriller” starts out with What-if, and everything follows from tha’t; it’s a petito principi (circular reasoning). So one day I came up with mny What-if – a very wealthy and powerful man wanted to acquire a miraculous holy icon for its supposed healing powers and engaged an art profesor and his artist to paint a fake to replace the icon. That would trrigger a series of catastrophic events. Enter Milton Lessing, ordinary looking, but brilliant Ivy League educated insurance sleuth, whose company is on the hook for $5m.

My Gift To You by Faye Hall

MyGiftToYou400Rush Mullens saw her parents, Joseph and Carmen, being murdered before her eyes as an 8 year old child– ten cloaked figures destroying her once peaceful life. She did not know the men responsible, but she would find them. She wanted revenge…she needed it.

When Lord Justin Maston came to take her in to his care, she vowed she would use this opportunity to find the murderer’s she chased. She did not think she would also find a boy she could love more than her own life.

Bailey Maston had never supposed to mean any more to her than a friend, one who could protect her from the new lifestyle she had been forced into. What he had become though was a young man who could take her breath away, and steal her heart.

Rush knew Bailey knew nothing of her family, or the life she was raised to live. She doubted should he learn the truth that he would understand. She could not let him endanger the revenge she so craved to seek. Nor could she ignore that she was willing to risk all – her past, her life, her reputation – just to sample an ounce of passion from this man.

Bailey Maston wanted to find a woman – the perfect woman – to give his heart to. He wanted to trust that such a person could exist that would never betray him. Everything he had seen in his young life, both at home and in society, told him what a foolish dream this was. Such a woman could never exist. Even if she did, he doubted she would ever willingly give her heart to a love-starved boy like him.

Foolish though his dream was, Bailey could not help being drawn to the young orphaned girl his parents had taken in.

He wanted her friendship and the attention she so willingly offered to him.

He craved to feel the passion he knew was hidden deep inside her.

What he did not want was to fall in love with her.

When Bailey finally discovers the truth of Rush’s life, and the revenge she was enacting, he feels betrayed. Foolish though it was, he hopes that beyond this betrayal may yet lay the woman he has always yearned to find…a woman he craved to give his well-guarded heart to.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Like most writers, I’m attuned to my surroundings. Ideas for plots and scenes can strike at any time. I might hear something on the news, or read an article in the newspaper and think “that would make a good plot.” Or I might be on holiday and the town or city I’m visiting might become the setting for a novel.

While on holiday in Florida, I sat on the beach admiring the multi-million dollar beach homes and started thinking what if someone left me one in their will? And what if that person was someone who’d been killed in a road traffic accident? How and where did the money come from to purchase it and why hadn’t he told me about it? Thus the idea for Ring of Lies was conceived.

His mission is to write full length novels which make the reader wonder (Is fringe science truly possible and what would be its consequences?); ponder (What rights, if any, might we give to sentient artificial life); and be thrilled (Can FBI Agent Diggs stop a genetically-engineered demon?).

Gods of the Machines by Gary Starta @scifiauthorGary

Detective Sam Benson, a native New Yorker, is brash, opinionated and candid. Transplanted to work on Earth’s first colonized planet, he envisions a relatively peaceful job. But Benson’s ruthless nature might bring it to the brink of annihilation when a series of murders begins. He suspects a non-human is responsible-an android who once shared engrams with a psychopathic human. However, the detective doesn’t know other non-humans once called his new world-theirs. And as Benson obsesses with making a case against the android, he is oblivious to their return and the reason why they consider machines to be their gods.

Targeted Audience: 18 plus

Author Bio:

Gary Starta is a former journalist who studied English and Journalism at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.

His love for science fiction compelled him to write his first novel What Are You Made Of? published in 2006. Inspired by Isaac Asimov, the science fiction novel focuses on intelligent artificial life and whether sentient androids should possess the same rights as humans. The androids in Starta’s novel are created as hybrids – part machine, part human – further blurring the line between human and machine. Starta foresees a near future where humans will be forced to decide if intelligent machinery is indeed a life form. Possibly, in this near future, some humans will possess computer enhancements to overcome disabilities becoming hybrids themselves. The line between biological life form and mechanical life form continues to be examined in 2010’s Gods of the Machines.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
A love of science and androids. I thought there might be a different way to present artificial life. Instead of as monsters against the human race, what about peaceful ones who loved and dreamed. Could there be robot romanticism?
There are many facets to Gods of the Machines. People who normally haven’t read the science fiction genre enjoy it because it blends romance, mystery and morality.
What would life be like for humans on a new planet? Would a second chance be poisoned by the usual hate, greed and stupidity?
And what if machines might have a god?
