War widow Chloe Kent is an overcast version of her former self. She has resigned to a lonely fate as a single mom, her heart guarded against vulnerability. Anti-social, her only friend in the world is her nagging baby sister who presses for her to move on with her life. She can’t hide in her room forever, so she accepts the invitation to dinner with a blind date and thinks to be done with it. Since nothing is ever so simple, she begins falling for him. When his past comes knocking, she fears losing love a second time might make her swear it off forever.
Realtor Robert McKenna has returned to his hometown recently dumped and with a new perspective. Love may not have worked out for him the first time but it might the next. Always an optimist, he wonders what’s drawn him to the widow who rarely smiles. He makes it a mission to become more than just her friend. But when his charms aren’t enough to get him past her defenses, he contemplates giving up on the woman who fulfills him.
