Child of Paradise (Listen to your Dreams) by Pratibha R DH

Life takes an unexpected turn when Tia meets the boy whom she secretly had a crush on all through her school years. Not only does Ron steal her heart but he seems equally besotted in a true blue sense of the word. Tia’s friends who had always known about her infatuation are more than thrilled as Ron is absolutely a girl’s dream come true – a stunner with a heart of gold.

Everything seemed just so perfect and it looked like the universe finally heard her wishes…if not for one person who didn’t want her to be with Ron. And it was none other than the person Tia loved most in the world – Rianna, her sister. The bizzare part of it all was that Rianna was no longer alive! Tia was continuously haunted by dreams of her sister who kept warning her off Ron.

Her sister’s case being closed off by the police as suicide was something that had left Tia deeply perturbed even years after her passing away. As Tia follows her instincts and tries to solve the mystery surrounding her sister’s death she comes up with evidence that might just open up a can of worms and shatter her whole family.

Will she be able to fulfil her sister’s last wish? Will she make the right choice between love and justice? This story is a journey of corporate ambition, greed, lust and betrayal. A paranormal crime novel that will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions and family drama while at the same time leave you twitching to unearth the mystery of a death, unresolved.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
My desire to know about after-life born out of the early loss of my loved ones, has been the real life inspiration behind my new paranormal crime thriller. Here the protagonist, like me, is haunted by dreams and these dreams have sometimes been prophetic or have brought a meaning in her life. My experience with psychics and mediums has also been touched upon through the heroine's life. Her curiosity as well as her refusal to accept the conventional in turn is a catalyst in solving the mystery surrounding her sister's death. This book touches upon subjects such as after-life, spirit guides, dream visitations, police investigations, family ties and are for readers who’d love a thriller or a mystery with a supernatural edge. It also borders round corporate dreams and ambitions – the politics of it that can make or break a person. This too has been hugely inspired by my experience of a career in the corporate world. Hence the book is a journey I can closely relate to which is about loss, defeat, deceit, betrayal, depression and yet finding the light at end of the tunnel.

Covington Stone – In Honor of Remington Steele: A Stone Faced Colt by Michael Volpi

Covington-Stone-Cover-Final-REV1-June-15th__1402892841_173.180.204.50Covington Stone owns a failing private investigation agency in LA. He’s a handsome mid-30’s guy, blue collar, smart, comes from old school NYC Hell’s Kitchen tough neighborhood. He recently had a stint in the NYPD before moving to LA and inheriting his uncles PI business.

He’s ambitious; wants his agency to grow and to have big-ticket clients, with many employees and offices all over the country. He misses New York City, and is constantly grouchy about L.A.

Problem? He can’t break out of this rut of sleazy, low-end assignments – divorces, cheating spouses, drugs, prostitution, insurance fraud, with each client being more unsavory, unscrupulous, and deadbeat than the last. When he approaches “big ticket clients” like movie stars, high-end attorneys, and big business executives, they always turn their nose down at him.

Depressed and at his wits end, he attends the “Law Enforcement, Investigations and Security Industry Summit” an annual professional convention in which people in law enforcement, investigation, security, etc, can attend to promote their business, learn new tactics, meet new people, mingle, attend panels, and listen to speakers.

This seems to deject him more as he meets several people who lucked into the higher end of the industry, getting the kind of assignments he wants. Drowning his sorrows at a nearby pub, a beautiful brunette sits next to him – Kerrie Barnett, former employee of the James Lindsend Detective Agency. There he learns that she was one of Jamie’s Saints.

She suggests that he get a female partner. Not one for men to ogle, but a beautiful, resourceful, educated woman who will provide him with that ‘in’ with the type of clientele he’s seeking. Covington’s a bit old school macho and thinks that this type of work is too dangerous for a woman, but his conversation with Kerrie makes him rethink that stance.

After interviewing a whole bunch of girls, they’re either vapid or crazy. He’s about to give up for good, when suddenly, Gilberto DaCosta, a rare gems merchant shows up at his office who said that Kerrie recommended him and his “partner”. Partner?

Covington nervously plays along trying to figure out what’s going on, pretending he does have that person, and then right before his lie is about to be blown, all of a sudden appears Sarah Colt.

Forced to solve a jewel heist case, “Sarah” is very secretive about herself and he believes Kerrie sent her. Who was this woman? Was she up to something? Was she hiding something? Was she someone important? Did she have a lot of friends? Or did she upset the wrong people? Or was she dangerous? All Covington could get from the case they were working on together was that Sarah was beautiful, an expert hand to hand combatant, multilingual – she’s got a whole bunch of skills…

Hello!

As a kid and a teenager I used to enjoy detective TV shows and crime dramas of all kinds. It’s a genre that goes back as far as I can remember. What did those shows have?

• Great Drama – procedural, serial (story arcs).
• Thrilling Action: car chases, chases on foot, fist fights, gun fights, and no shortage of them.
• Comedy: screwball comedy, slapstick, cheesiness, insult comedy, physical comedy, character comedy and who could forget cheesy 1-liners.
• Romance and Sexual Tension: the “will they or won’t they” cliché that takes place in many of these shows that involve a male and female lead. It is now common to television drama of all genres. It’s about finding out what the other person is hiding.
• Cross-Overs with Other Shows – On occasion, characters from other shows would be mentioned or appear to offer assistance.
• Charming & Good Looking Men and Women, character Development, Recurring Villains, Unique Plot Lines.
• Dark Tone: dark and serious tones, often disturbing and “cringeworthy”.
• Supernatural/Sci-Fi: some elements of supernatural that many people don’t believe, but are present and can either be real or a hoax. Could or could not be extraterrestrials, but could also be “objects” that can be used to harness or impose power. If in the wrong hands….
• Breaking the 4th wall, and voiceovers, talking to themselves, unmatched acting and narrations.

What are some examples of these shows? There are so many and I’m missing al ot, but I’ll name some..…

Remington Steele, MacGyver, Mike Hammer, The Equalizer, Charlie’s Angels, Hart to Hart, Simon & Simon, Cagney & Lacey, Moonlighting, CHIPS, 21 Jump Street, Hunter, Murder She Wrote, HardCastle and McCormick, Spencer For Hire, Jake & The Fat Man, Knight Rider, Magnum P.I., The A-Team, Miami Vice, Greatest American Hero.

I miss these shows and while they’ve tried to bring some of these back in movie form, they were not even close to the original source material.

So I will bring these show back in book form, just like watching an episode on TV.

I hope you will enjoy my stories and revisit some of these shows and never forget them. The joys that the shows of yesteryear have created have been a wonderful source of happiness that should always remain in everybody’s memory. That’s what entertainment is all about!

Enjoy!!

Lazar’s Mission by Kevin Sterling

Lazars-Mission-CoverFast-Paced, Edge of Your Seat, Absolute FUN!

The Jack Lazar Series has it all from mystery and suspense to action, humor and romance

Jack heads to Egypt to investigate a crash-landed World War II fighter plane that was recently discovered in the middle of the Sahara. But something remarkable was left onboard, and people will stop at nothing to possess it.

An Egyptian Girl with Blue Eyes? Just Stunning.

But Jack soon finds himself in the middle of a hornet’s nest as he becomes enthralled with Dalia, an exquisite woman of Egyptian and English descent whose father is the Egyptian Head Consul to the UK, not to mention a formidable covert agent with the Mukhabarat. The man’s skills and weapons come in handy as he and Jack join forces to battle a faction that has plans to kill millions of innocent people and subject the world to their twisted ideologies.

A Race Against Time.

The trail leads to Northern Europe as all hell breaks loose. And before long, it’s up to Jack and Jack alone to cheat death as he struggles to save Dalia, her father, and scores of unsuspecting people from the plot of a deranged madman.

Targeted Audience: 18 and Older

Author Bio:
A first generation American born to a European family, Kevin Sterling writes from a rich perspective on relationships, culture and sensuality to create characters with uncommon depth and appealing vulnerability. Combine that with a history of world travel and a successful former business career in structured finance, and it’s easy to see how his books resonate with authentic situations, engaging conflict, and stimulating eroticism.

Then there’s the lighter side of the man, who can do a killer impression of Sean Connery (amongst other famous personalities) and thinks everyone wants to hear his never-ending repertoire of corny jokes. That has yet to be proven, of course, so readers should be thankful he has one of the best editors in the industry (Mary Moran) to keep that under control.

Sterling and his wife travel extensively and live at their mountain ranch in Colorado with their Golden Retriever, Shelby.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
So many things, really. But the biggest inspiration is the prospect of bringing joy and entertainment to other people’s lives. The author/reader connection is incredibly intimate, and it’s thrilling to share that with so many people. Then there’s the creative process of forming stories, inventing characters and bringing it all to life through fun writing, all of which gets me so excited that I can hardly wait to get to my study every morning. I know, in my heart, that it’s truly what I’m meant to do.

Lazar’s Challenge by Kevin Sterling

Lazars-Challenge-Book-CoverFast-Paced, Edge of Your Seat, Absolute FUN

The Jack Lazar Series has it all from mystery and suspense to action, humor and romance

Jack’s best friend, Zachary Taylor, is roused out of bed in the middle of the night at his apartment in Paris and taken away at gunpoint, but not before he sends Jack a safety deposit key with a note saying he’s in trouble. If only he had given a clue regarding the location of the box, its contents, or what the hell is going on. Jack tries to call, but Zach’s cell phone goes straight to voicemail.

Clearly, something sinister is afoot in the City of Lights.

Jack heads for Paris to investigate, and in no time he’s accosted by the bad guys. But Jack Lazar isn’t the sort to back down, so he sets up shop in Zach’s Paris flat on a mission to solve the mystery and find his friend.

Sexy, French Flight Attendants Are Nothing But Trouble

Enter Michele – one of Zach’s many girlfriends in Paris. She’s upset to discover Zach is missing, but her idea of being consoled is to shed her clothes, plant herself in Jack’s arms, and mercilessly tantalize him. She’s ostensibly off-limits, of course, which wedges Jack between his growing obsession with her and his allegiance to Zach. It’s a sure prescription for disaster…and some really hot sex.

Uh-Oh. Things Just Got More Complicated

With a little ingenuity, Jack locates and opens the safety deposit box, but the only thing in there is an old bottle of Cognac. Still, it doesn’t take long before people are chasing after it, and they’re willing to kill for it, too. But the eau-de-vie is just the tip of the iceberg, and soon Jack finds himself working with French law enforcement and British Intelligence to stop something truly unthinkable.

Lazar’s Intrigue by Kevin Sterling

Lazars-Intrigue-CoverFast-Paced, Edge of Your Seat, Absolute FUN!

The Jack Lazar Series has it all from mystery and suspense to action, humor and romance
Meet Jack Lazar, a wealthy businessman whose battles are usually fought in the boardroom, not on the street for his life. But an evening on the beach at the brink of a raging storm changes all that as he witnesses the shooting of a beautiful woman, saves her life, and thrusts himself into the middle of a corrupt DEA investigation.

To make matters worse, Jack was just blackmailed into leaving his lucrative job by one of the firm’s senior partners, and now he discovers the event is somehow connected to the DEA’s case. How is that even possible? But the DEA won’t tell Jack anything, so he sets off on his own mission to solve the mystery, and every step digs him deeper into trouble.

Sexy Government Agents Always Make Things More Complicated

Sarina is the stunning, exotic agent Jack rescued, and she gets a little out of hand when it comes to sex. So Jack is immediately hooked as any red-blooded male would be, and it’s probably why he pushes so hard for them to join forces. But Sarina has a knack for disregarding orders and creating havoc, so it doesn’t take long before people want to kill her…and Jack, too.

First in the Jack Lazar Series

Lazar’s Intrigue is the completely rewritten first installment of Sterling’s Jack Lazar Series. It’s an action-packed thriller that will keep you guessing to the very end as Jack and Sarina struggle to stay alive, piece together what’s going on, and hopefully take down the bad guys before it’s too late.
