Suzi started writing erotica for her very own “Lucas”. She lives with him in a tropical paradise of their own. The only thing different is hers is a Central American country, not an island,…well, that and her Lucas isn’t rich, though he is very handsome (and Suzi’s proof reader)… and there’s a lot more dog hair and one very pushy cat. But other than that – exactly the same.

What inspires you to write romance books?
How many times have you heard this? I always wanted to be a writer. I swear, it’s true. Well, maybe not ALWAYS. There were those ages between birth and 5 when I didn’t really have any career plans. But I seriously wrote a 25 page book in 1st grade. It wasn’t however, erotica. 🙂

I really did start writing erotica as a non-threatening way to tell my husband about my fantasies. We’d been together a long time and all at once it became clear that we didn’t really know that much about what went on between our ears – sexually speaking.

I recently left my career and we made a HUGE move that gave me a chance to try out this writing thing I’d been thinking about since I was 6. And there you have it… the pieces just came together.

Tell us about how you write:
I am so totally and completely a seat of my pants writer it even annoys me. But, since these are my fantasies it seems horribly uptight, and maybe a little weird, to have an outline of your sexual fantasies. 🙂

The characters have been in my head for a long time, but it is fascinating to me how they have grown and evolved. They are of course an amalgam of people I know, me, my favorite characters from book and movies and pure imagination. But just like the stories themselves, so far they appear when I need them to do so.

Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Lily does, Lucas is too much of an ass to talk to me.

What advice would you give other writers?
Since I’m really just starting out my advice is limited and mostly untested. I will offer this tidbit. I posted early versions of these stories on a website where people can read erotica for free. It was a huge confidence booster since the stories were read 200,000+ times. Of the nine stories I put up there, 7 got ratings o 4.5 or higher out of 5. The readers were eager to provide feedback . I can definitely say it was good way to get started.

How did you decide how to publish your books?
I’m still deciding actually. The Blackmail in the Pacific series will be self-published. I had lots of ideas for additional story lines. If this series goes well, I don’t see any reason to stop self-publishing… but time will tell.

What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I wish I was qualified to have an opinion on that. 🙂 Can I get back to you on that?
