About the Author

What inspires you to write romance books?
When I met my husband in the late ’80’s we faced some adversity from family and friends. This inspired me to write a book about our relationship, although I have added more ‘spice’ to make the story interesting. I would say Julie & Kishore is perhaps 40% non-fiction and 60% fiction.

Tell us about how you write:
When I finally found the time to write our story the words just poured out of me. I kept a notebook with me at all times to jot down the ideas that kept popping into my head. I outlined the story on paper first and rewrote, rewrote and rewrote the story.

Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
The characters talk to me, so this must mean I listen to them.

What advice would you give other writers?
Don’t give up. Attend as many workshops as you can. Knowledge is valuable and everything you learn will all be stored somewhere in your head for when you need it. Edit mistakes as you go as it is a huge job later on to go and correct errors. Enjoy the process and don’t get bogged down by the ‘doing.’

How did you decide how to publish your books?
This is also a very hard process, harder than the actual writing of the story. Rejections are part of being an author. The lovely Kitty, from Ravenswood Publishing is a wonderful publisher.

What do you think about the future of book publishing?
In my opinion the printed book will not die, but print on demand will become more popular. E-books will and do have a place, but people still like to hold a paper book in their hands.

What genres do you write?
Romance

What formats are your books in?
Both eBook and Print
